Cascade Lagoon Airstrip NZZC - Image 1

    Description

    *IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE*
This Airstrip, Cascade Lagoon Airstrip, is also included with the new NZA Simulations Pack released 9/23 (Which is absolutely beautiful and highly recommended) found here --> https://nzasimulations.com/product/nzmf-milford-sound/. My rendition here on this page (NZZC) is the same airport as their (NZ31). If you buy their pack, then you need to remove this airstrip completely from your community folder or uncheck in add-ons linker. If you leave it in then their rendition (NZ31) will not show up properly!! Theirs is closer to real life in most aspects, as a few have commented on mine that it seems as if a Billionaire had moved into this little fishing airstrip and invested in trees and water villas lol. Both renditions of the strip are beautiful, so it does not hurt to keep both around and switch them out, that's what I'm going to do!

Welcome to your New Favorite Challenge Bush Strip! Cascade Lagoon Airstrip is the perfect Airstrip to getaway to! Nestled perfectly on the Northeast Coastline of the South Island near other great airstrip to fly in from, Gorge River Airstrip, Martyr Homestead, Martins Bay, Milford Sound and more are jus a short flight from here! This strip does exist in real life, and I modeled it as close as possible! Fly into it once before downloading to see all the changes, it is asonishing!

Make sure to take in the beaches all around, with plenty of little things hidden around the strip you will have hours of enjoyment. Take off from the main runway, go around and come back in, be sure to have your VFR glasses on! Take off from the beach using the trail just After the Hangar on Runway 22, make sure to give it all you got and give yourself enough room! (Start at the rock breaker near runway 22 and veer left to the left side of the beached boat!

Don't forget to land from both sides, Each runway has it's own fun and challenges! there is also a little secret path near Runway near the Parking Spot 1, this will take you down to the beach South of Runway 04! The last little tip I will give, don't forget to fly North, just past the point there is another little surprise (this part is a fictional airstrip), if you land in there, Don't forget to look for a path, and 1-2 other little easter eggs! Hope you guys have fun at here!

Make sure you have all the New Zealand and Oceania updates downloaded and up-to-date too!

Very cool. One question though: Why the very high trees left and right of the runway?
    Looks like palm trees ^^
In reality, there seem to be only low trees/bushes... otherwise way too dangerous I guess.
Could you make it more realistic in that regard?
That would be great, thank you

I would definitely look into this, I left the palm trees the size they were originally modeled and they were form the New Zealand World Update, it seems as if there are palm trees there so I didn't give it a second thought.

The only problem is that I deleted the XML file needed to mod the airport. So unless I can find someone to tell me how I can reverse the main scenery file back to get that if it's possible, this scenery is cemented in time!

Thank you for the comment, I will definitely keep searching for a solution to get that back then look into this if it happens!

    Oh nooooo ^^
    That's unfortunate.
Well, I would suggest to ask here: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/c/gd-commsupport/sdk/184
Maybe somebody there can tell you how to reverse it :)
    Would be great!
It's a fun airport! Well done. Just these palm trees are WAY to large ^^

What aircrafts do you recommend to land here? I am pretty new to MSFS, the scenery is stunningly beautiful with amazing detail- congrats for that! For me the strip seems quite complicated to land though.... trees and boulders ;-) hence the question.
    Any advice is welcome

    Cheers

It depends on what you have! If you have purchased any planes or just have freeware. The kinds of planes that land here in real life would be Bush Planes go to https://www.got-friends.com to get a few great freeware bush planes! for default planes, you could get the new red bull xcub plane, any of the nx, or xcubs, or any small GA plane! Also, T urbo props are a plane that would usually fly in and out of here! I have had comments here saying the Kodiak was fun to get in and out of here but a little challenge and they were pleased! I personally have flown the Comanche, Wilga, Double Ender, Kodiak, Twin Otter and more.

If you ever want some help or a great community, we are live on https://www.twitch.tv/burstixtv mondays, weds, and thurs at 6pm EST. and Sundays, sometime in the morning or late morning but usually by 9am EST! Stop in sometimes, we do group flying and I answer questions all stream usually. Thanks for downloading!

Having played in this scenery repeatedly, I might offer a suggestion or two you may (or may not) wish to consider for any future updates of this already fabulous scenery. A couple of C&D starting points around the docks for float/amphibians. Also, love the dock with the amphibian ramp but it's a little small. Going down is not a problem but I've crashed repeatedly attempting to go up. Perhaps something 25% bigger? A larger open hangar to fit something like a Kodiak, with a C&D start position. Also, a static yacht with a landable helipad might be cool.

Had at it with the newest update. New hangar is superb, including the size, starting position, detailed interior and lighting. As is the larger dock ramp; no problem getting up and turning around in something as large as the Kodiak. One thing I noticed is that the collision boxes surrounding that path down to the beach next to the windsock, are now more aggressive. Could not manage to taxi through that space without triggering a crash, even though visually there is good clearance from the trees and shrubs. In prior version there was no issue. A minor point to be certain, but something to perhaps keep in mind for any future updates. Love your work!

There are several video of this stunning airstrip but your version seems to have almost nothing to do with the real one, unfortunatly.

Well, this is a freeware strip, and seeing as I dont have the ability, or time to invest on bringing my own 3D models into the game, I made it as close to the actual thing as I could. i.e. things being placed very similarily (docks airstrip, most buildings beaches etc), runway length, width, beache, sandbar (there was barely a sandbar here I had to make 90% of it from scratch), added cliffs (Sim cliffs were terrible and a dark blue in most places), added ponds, tons of terraforming (not even the sea was at sea level here).

You don't have to like it that is totally fine, I know I can't please everyone. I take a hybrid approach to building "irl" airstrips, I enjoy adding a little of my own touch to the strip, easter eggs, and the occasional extra private cabin strip lol.

Thank you for your comment though, I hope you will enjoy the new update.
