This addon is compatible with MSFS 2024, however some objects may be sunk into the ground or floating due to terrain displacement changes in 2024!
Alaska Camps is a small project I started a while back to add some fictional / semi-fictional camp sites to the Matanuska-Susitna Valley / Denali Park area of Alaska.
I have been holding off on release for a while as this package was part of a video series I was working on (The first 3 build videos linked below). However, I have been wrapped up in other projects and not able to find much time to continue that series as of yet, so I have opted to go ahead and release the 3 locations as is.
This package will evolve, eventually. Until then, enjoy the few locations! All are marked by POI indicators in the sim.
- North River Camp - Gravelbar upriver from Talkeetna. Plenty of landing/parking space. Challenge: 1/10
- Tokositna Glacier Camp - At the foot of the Tokositna Glacier. Short, slightly curved landing strip (Exists IRL) surrounded by shrubs. Challenge: 7-8/10
- Peter's Creek Camp - Down-hill approach into a valley. Landing on uneven vehicle trail. Challenge: 6/10.

Installation
The included "esd-alaska-camps" folder should be placed into your MSFS "Packages\Community" folder. The scenery will load the next time you start Microsoft Flight Simulator.
NOTAMs
ORBX Alaska Mesh Compatibility - I would recommend to not use the ORBX Alaska mesh with these campsites. The ORBX mesh has a high level of terrain terracing which can make off-airport operations in most areas a nightmare. Most of these locations are affected by that and may be difficult to land at.

Hello,
I have added them as POI markers only. I don't have any plans of turning them into fictional airports. Runways for some of these spots would add complications. Mostly with unintended affects to terrain.
I will work on adding some more documentation and coordinates though so they can be easier to locate for planning purposes.
