Description
This mod is an upgrade for Mount Eden in Auckland, New Zealand. It does use photogrammetry data to make it look more accurate to the real world mountain, however it does come with the side effect of photogrammetric trees. It looks fine when flying over, but its shortcommings become apparent when you get up close and personal. The last two photos are of the default Mount Eden,
- This is my first time modding anything, so dont expect it to be perfect. Any helpful feedback would also be appretiated. Good luck out there, and fly safe.
- You may also notice that Auckland in the background looks way better than the default model, that is the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020: Auckland Pack 1.0 by NZA Simulations via allfightmods.com (Not currently available on flightsim.to, but they do have other packs here)
- To install, just unzip the compressed file, and place it in the community folder.
Is compatable with SU5, But I no longer have the original files to upload an updated verson.

I love this Mt Eden (I live near it) and just discovered that it works with the new OrbX Auckland scenery too, - not sure why. It seems bigger (and much better), so perhaps it rises above the Orbx mesh.

Hey TexanKiwi - me again. I didn't realise this was yours until you mentioned it in the Ardmore Airport addon comments. I loved this Mt Eden as an addon prior to the rather brutal U5 update (wife's business premises is located at the foot of the mount and it made for good scenery for slow & low passes). Just wondering if you're going to U5 update this one at some point so you get the 'green stripe of U5 approval'?
For a person who 'hasn't been' here yet, your perceptions of Auckland through the sim are very impressive. Keep 'em coming!

Mount Eden was more of an experiment for me, and was my first attempt at a scenery project. When I made this I was under a different name (aviation1903), but have since retired that name and rebranded. I should still have the original files for Mount Eden, I'll see if I can get it updated for SU5.
I was actually working on a scenery addition for One Tree Hill and Cornwall Park, but that proved to be a much too large file, and my computer was having trouble rendering it while I was working on it.

I completely forgot actually, unfortunately I deleted those files from my computer a few days ago. I was clearing out abandoned projects when I was starting Ardmore just to clean things up. The raw files for mount Eden were a few gigabytes in size, and One Tree Hill was a lot larger. So unfortunately I cant update it in SU5. I'll load this in and see if it still works, but there wont be any updates for any future sim updates.

No doubt. I used to do the odd addons for X-Plane and that was manageable (Photoshop is easy for me)_- but MSFS and its SDK is a whole other kettle of fish. I always knew FS was a huge RAM sucker and looks a little overwhelming with this latest version - for designers, like what you're dabbling with, i can only imagine what its like. Good luck anyway.

It was certainly a lot more confusing back when I created this mod. But I had up to date tutorials for importing photogrammetric data. Its hard to find up to date tutorials anymore, but the SDK is much easier to work with. I never did any work on any previous sims, so I have nothing to compare it too, but as I understand the MSFS SDK is still very incomplete, so I'm likely going to have to relearn everything once again at a later date. I actually lost many hours working on Ardmore due to not knowing how to use the new SDK, but eventually it worked.

Howdy again - not sure if this will help your pre-SU5 scenery add-on;
1) https://news.flightsim.to/removing-uncompatible-sim-update-5-mods/
and
2) https://flightsim.to/file/18505/texture-update-for-su5-747-787-a320-a32nx
The 'fix' may only fix those particular aircraft's subsequent texture add-ons - so we can only hope it works on other stuff.
