    Description

    Raleigh County Memorial
    https://flybeckley.com/

Raleigh County Memorial Airport (IATA: BKW, ICAO: KBKW, FAA LID: BKW) is three miles east of Beckley, in Raleigh County, West Virginia, United States. It is owned by the Raleigh County Airport Authority. The airport is used for general aviation and sees one scheduled passenger airline, subsidized by the Essential Air Service program.

Federal Aviation Administration records say the airport had 3,630 passenger boardings (enplanements) in calendar year 2008, 2,626 in 2009 and 2,429 in 2010. The National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015 categorized it as a non-primary commercial service airport based on enplanements in 2008 (between 2,500 and 10,000) but would categorize it as general aviation based in enplanements in 2010 (under 2,500).

The airport opened in 1950–52 with a 4200-foot east–west runway; the first airline flights were Piedmont DC-3s in 1952. (The last Piedmont YS-11 left in 1981.) The runway was extended to 5000 ft in the 1950s, and 6750-ft runway 1 was added between 1975 and 1979.

In 2005 the airport was the least busy airport with scheduled airline service in the United States, with 2,578 passengers that year.

    Facilities
    The airport covers 1,433 acres (580 ha) at an elevation of 2,504 feet (763 m). It has two asphalt runways: 1/19 is 6,750 by 150 feet (2,057 x 46 m) and 10/28 is 5,001 by 100 feet (1,524 x 30 m).

In the year ending July 31, 2011 the airport had 21,904 aircraft operations, average 60 per day: 89% general aviation, 7% air taxi, and 4% military. 59 aircraft were then based at the airport: 52.5% single-engine, 30.5% multi-engine, 7% jet, and 10% helicopter.

    KNOWN ISSUES

The exact position of the windsocks is unknown

The US and WV flags are on the same pole. During times of calm winds and the flags are touching, you will see texture flicker.

Streetlights - Texture flicker noticed as you move away from the poles. All pole lighs are using a default Asobo light and I never noticed this before. I think this happened with the last update.

Great airport. I used the 737-600 to fly there. Loved every moment on the ground. Thanks for making this!

Very well done little airport, but there seems to be a small elevation bug creating a speed bump about 1/3 the way down RWY 19, past taxiway B4. Great for doing wheelies. Not so great if landing/taking off on 19. Would love to see this fixed! This is a five star airport for sure with this corrected.

Update: The latest update has resolved the terrain issue. Thank you!

Found the terrain issue, but didn't cause me any problems taking off or landing. Just uploaded v1.0.2 that smooth this out and there should only be a minor dip in that area now. The problem that I have trying to correct it, is that I can clearly see it while using the sim, but ass soon as I go into developers mode, it's completely flat. If you are still getting a bad bump and you have GSX installed, see this page https://maccosim.com/pages/troubleshoot-gsx-causing-bumpy-taxiway

My hometown airport finally looks beautiful! I want to thank you soo much for bringing it to its real life beauty. The first flight of my life was from here. RWY 1/19 was not built yet. You have done the older section and terminal great justice, looks like I remember it. I used to fish in the pond near the end of Rwy 28 and watched Piedmont fly in from DC then depart for Roanoke. So many memories, THANK YOU!!!
Your KLGA is also a work of art, and makes flying in and out of NY better. Thank you again and keep up your fantastic work. Look forward to more of your beautiful sceneries.

Very welcome. This was a fun airport to do. I'm in the process of updating the taxiway network and Terminal B at LGA to better match the latest satellite data. I should have KMQY ready in about two weeks.

yea i know about the crj contour livery but they fly embraers into there daily.....ill end up buying the crj and getting the livery, i love flying regional jets instead of large commercial planes.

Thank you so much for making this airport, if you need pictures or anything, please feel free to ask, I drive by this airport daily, 6 days a week, I also fly out of this airport on msfs and real life, contour air is the main commercial service provider, FedEx and UPS also fly into here daily, there's a bug fed ex facility next to the airport, they are actually working on giving FedEx and other companies access to the airport from their facilities. There's a restaurant inside the terminal building as well. Now if someone would make a contour air livery for the embraer then I could be as realistic as possible. But thank you so much for modeling my favorite airport finally!!!

there is a Contour livery for the CRJ in case you didnt know.

Thanks, yes I saw the sign for the restaurant but didn't have any photos of thee inside to do the models from. If you can provide photos, I will add this to the next update.

ill try and stop by there saturday morning, i have a dentist appt tomorrow so i cant then.....i noticed you even got the terminal building correct with the curvature in the roof....you may also want to add the fishing pond in the background

This is an airport I have been into and out of a few times 30 years ago on business on USAir commercial flights. Appreciate that you addressed it! Keep the open hangars coming in your work. Adds so much life. Appears you have found or created some open t-hangers. Love it. When you can you should drop back and enhance previous airports. Have you found any dynamic hangars? Hangers where you can pull up to the door and have them open up? I believe I have seen some in recent descriptions.

Again, your great work continues. I flew my Hjet into your KLGA today to join my Chicago White Sox at NY Mets baseball series. Very impressive airport. Much appreciative! All this from a big fan!

My todo list is at 9 airports now, but I'm not taking more requests until this list is finished and I will update my old projects. The dynamic hangar is on my list, but have not found any. I've only found a few videos that show you how to do them in blender. As my schedule ease up, I'll take time to try and make one myself. Google satellite finally updated the area over LGA and I have update the entire taxiway network to match, also updating terminal b and have considered modeling the internal terminal as well. I'm not releasing the update until terminal b is finished.

    THIS IS COOL!!!

Also, the beacon is where you put the pointy red thing on top of the hangar. That IS the beacon :D

I felt this was the beacon, but the red color threw me off. I will try to add the beacon on the next update. Thanks
