    KPDK Dekalb Peachtree Airport

    DeKalb–Peachtree Airport (IATA: PDK, ICAO: KPDK, FAA LID: PDK), also known as Peachtree–DeKalb Airport, is a county-owned, public-use airport in DeKalb County, Georgia, United States. The airport is located in the city of Chamblee, just northeast of Atlanta. It operates 24 hours per day, although it is uncontrolled from 11:00 PM EST to 6:30 AM EST (Monday through Friday) or 7:00 AM EST (Saturday through Sunday). The airport has many hangars and is the second-busiest in Georgia. There is one helipad which is used by the four major network-affiliated television stations (WAGA, WANF, WSB and WXIA). PDK is also the home of AutoPILOT Magazine, an advertorial publication covering all things aviation-related. Nearly every building at the airport are handcrafted, with a few not done because the information from Google Earth was just to blurry and couldn't be determined what it is.  Three open hangars, Atlantic Aviation, Signature Aviation. and Aero Center EPPS Aviation. 

    History
    The area currently used by  PDK was a Army training camp during World War I for the 82nd Division.  In 1940 the land was converted into a Naval Air Station with operations beginning in March 1941, a few months before the United States entered into World War II.  The NAS later moved to Marietta and was called Dobbins Air  Reserve Base. NAS was eventually closed by base realignment and closure (BRAC).  PDK was converted from military to civilian use from 1957 to 1959. Commercial shuttle service began in 2017.  Ultimate Air Shuttle began operating commercial flights between PDK and Lunken Field in Cincinnati.  Service was expanded to connect PDK with Charlotte Douglas International Airport in 2019. However, service was suspended in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Holy Crap!

    Finally!! I was wondering why nobody made a scenery for one of the busiest airports in Atlanta and arguably the South Eastern US. I was getting so frustrated with the default scenery that I was about to teach myself scenery design just to update it myself :-)

    Thanks so much for taking this on. I'm currently doing my PPL here at PDK and the default scenery was a mess. Looks like you even fixed the elevation issues with the taxiways. It looks spectacular!

    The only thing I would add is a few Pilatus' in the Epps hanger and maybe a few static business jets scattered here and there.

    Once again, thanks for creating this important airport!

    NO WAY! Nobody has ever made KPDK for any simulator free or paid for whatever reason. I've been waiting forever for this and you went above and beyond. This is payware quality. I grew up going to that playground. I've flown out of it tons of times and you CRUSHED it.

    Very nicely modeled airport! I've eaten many lunches on that wooden deck while watching planes take off and land (and in the 57th Fighter Group restaurant on the western end of the runway). Great work capturing the details!

    Great Job!! I take my kids to the playground some weekends. Very accurate representation. i hope you consider recreating a nearby airport (KLZU) I'd gladly buy you a coffee for that one.

    Great place to be along with the downwind restaurant! I was checking the NOTAMSs RWY 3R 21L is currently closed! So no big boys coming in and out atm.

    Btw he already did KLZU. Now what's left is KFTY!

    After using this scenery for a few days in 2020 I had to post here a second time. This scenery is truly outstanding. For what's presented the performance is stellar. Absolute payware quality here. For private operations KPDK is such an important airport for the Atlanta area, I'm glad this airport is finally fully rendered properly in 2020 and 2024. First the Citation X release now this. Please do KVRB.

    Have you seen this https://flightsim.to/file/89009/kvrb-vero-beach-regional-airport-enhancement - not sure how much is default. If you ask the developer, they may consider doing it for FS2020.

    I tried that and they no longer have 2020 installed to create a dual sim version plus it's not that much of an upgrade from default. KVRB is one of those sleeper destinations that is an amazing vacation getaway as an alternative to the more well-known locals. Piper is headquartered there, it's just an amazing airport that I'm surprised hasn't been done yet in any meaningful detail.

    Finally!! I have been waiting on this since the release of 2020! I come here a lot irl. All it needs is the benches in the playground area, the downwind restuarant with added chairs and tables. Also the famous Doc Manget Memorial Aviation Park.
