California Central Coast - Image 1

    Description

I've uploaded a new version in which I modified the file names to avoid potential conflicts with other addons (i.e. the "modellib" glitch).

This mod enhances several areas of California's central coast. It removes the enormous water mask from the Santa Maria River, and also adds custom models of the Pismo Pier, Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant, and Morro Bay smoke stacks. In addition, the mod suppresses many of the concrete buildings that mysteriously sprout from freshly plowed fields in the Santa Maria valley. I also threw in a handful of biome override polygons (added trees) and added a few missing water tanks.

This is my first try at publishing scenery; feedback is welcomed.

is this still worth downloading? I see it has not been updated? does it still work? or is this needed still?

Good job! Any chance you could add some local lighthouses? Maybe the Point Conception lighthouse and the Port San Luis lighthouse near Avila Beach?

Thanks. Great additions to the coast. Just wish you could add more locations now. :)

It looks like nobody else is having the problem, but I'd just like to report that when I have this in my Community folder, MSFS won't start. I'm pretty sure it's because you didn't personalize any of the install, everything is mycompany, etc., and, the real issue I'm pretty sure, is that you used modelib.bgl as the file name. You should really change that.

Edit: I fixed the filenames and your manifest, and now MSFS starts. Basically, renamed the directory mycompany to santamariacoast, and modelLib.bgl to santamariacoast.bgl, redid the layout.json appropriately to reflect the new directory and bgl, changed the author to LimaJuliet and named the scenery so I'd know what it is in the Content Manager. I think that's it.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I've uploaded a new version with unique file names in hopes of preventing anyone else from encountering that problem.

This is INCREDIBLE! Very good work on the textures and it makes the MFS experience more immersive. It is now my favorite area to fly around in! I would love to see you creating a similar pack from Monterey - San Simeon/Hearst Ranch.

Great work and nice textures. I look forward to future updates adding the Ventura, Goleta, improved Stearns wharf, Avila Beach, Cal Poly, Port San Luis, Cayucos and San Simeon piers. The railroad trestle at Gaviota would be nice addition too.

This is really great work. For anyone with even a cursory knowledge of the area, this fabulous addon adds several glaringly missing and starkly iconic structures to the coastline. The custom 3D models of the Pismo Pier, the now inactive (but the smokestacks remain) Morro Bay Power Plant, and the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plants are spot on reconstructions of these structures and are rich with detail. Not having them there really breaks the immersion for any flight up or down the coast. And yes, the Santa Maria river is completely dry for most of the year, save a few winter rainstorms, so having that “100 Year flood” water mask gone is a truly a welcome addition. Clearly a great deal of work went into these improvements, and as a Central Californian myself, I certainly look forward to any future enhancements the author may release for the region. Thank you so much!

Thank you for the kind words!

i put it in my community folder and when i start up the game , the scenery is not there, i tryed it 3 times, same thing

I have no issues installing the scenery. Make sure you put "california-central-coast" (the folder, NOT the zip file, and with nothing after "-coast") in your MSFS community folder.

Then try taking off from L52, and fly north along the coastline to see the Pismo Pier.
