    Lake Sept-Iles CSP8 (Quebec) - Image 1

    Description

Scenery for Lake Sept-Iles, Quebec, Canada

    ICAO code: CSP8

This scenery represents Lac Sept-Iles and the former Aviation Batiscan seaplane base.

    The scenery includes:
    - The Batiscan Aviation building. The base was closed in the late 2010s. The building's new owner parked a Piper Cub there.
    - Several custom made chalets that are more easily noticed while circulating on the lake, including the nautical club and the old chapel on Nadeau Island (or Wasat).
    - Some details of Camps Portneuf (docks, canoes, yurts, activities on the lake in winter)
    - The dam
    - Riprap, stones and dead trees along the Portneuf River to the Paquet aerodrome (CSK5)
    - Rocks, shoals and dead trees around lac Sept-Iles, lac au Chien, lac à la Truite and many others
    - 5 dock departures including one near the DHC-2 Beaver of a famous hockey player
    - The electric wires that supply the islands (The wires offer a great challenge: try to pass under them one after the other)
    - Several docks and canoe cabins
    - Several seaplanes located as in real life
    - Several vegetation fixes

In FS2024, complex objects (boats) appear too late, which is an issue that has been reported to Asobo. I didn't make any changes to that.

    And a version for winter:
    - Removal of boats, canoes, etc.
    - Fishing tents with fishermen
    - Ice ring with skaters (without skates) and walkers, and activities on the lake at Camp Portneuf
    - Marked snowmobile trails on the lake
    - Snowmobilers at various locations

** To enjoy the winter scenery, there must be 25 units of snow on the ground for ice to appear on the lake. You can set snow dept in the weather setup. Takeoff and landing can be also hard to realise. This is not realistic and has been reported to Asobo. Vote on the following discussion to correct this issue: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/more-accurate-tree-types-in-north-american-regions/702785/2

Works well along its sister scenery CSK5 Paquet airstrip : https://flightsim.to/file/42546/csk5-paquet-airstrip

The following libraries will allow you to see electric wires, people, riprap and dead trees. Thanks to these authors. In order of priority :
1- Electric wires and canoe huts: MSFS 2020 object library 200+ models: https://flightsim.to/file/16007/msfs-object-library-with-150-models-ranging-from-towers-hangers-terminals -to-cones
2- Majority of riprap along the river and some places around the lake: The George River Scene (NZQE) in New Zealand's World Udape 12 and others are included in the base package of MSFS.
    3- People: Animated human 3D models : https://flightsim.to/file/33166/animated-humans-library

    Coming in the future:
    - The addition of other chalets and update of the summer scenery

    Scène du lac Sept-Iles
    Québec, Canada

    Code ICAO : CSP8

    3- Personnes: Animated Human 3D Models Library : https://flightsim.to/file/33166/animated-humans-library

It would appear that csp8-lake-sept-iles-v1.3.1- is for 2020 while csp8-lake-sept-iles-v1.4 appears to be for 2024. The tabs on this page show only 2024.. (could you please update the tabs to indicate that this for for both 2020 as well as 2024?- thank-you sir)

There is now two tab, one for FS2020 and the other for FS2024. The F2020 version won't be updated in the future. Thanks.

Excellent lakeside scenery, I made a video, showing your attention-to -detail. and your superb craftsmanship. There is so much scenery, to cover, I only showed a little bit, compared, to the sum of the whole scenery. Still trying to get ice, on the lake, as I want to show the winter scenery, should I just download, ONLY the winter scenery, and not the summer scenery? Anyhow, keep up the great Thanks,

Wow, thanks for the comments and the video!
Yeah, ice is complicated to get in MSFS. You need realtime weather and be during winter. Asobo just change the criteria that generate ice : 30 cm of snow on the ground as per Meteoblue data. So in lake Sept-Iles, it is gonna be not before january until april, even if in real life ice appears in early December. As you said, you need to activate only the Winter version of the scenery in your community folder.

Just flew, your summer, scenery, however, I tried to fly in winter, and have only water, on the lake, even when I put February, or December, with a preset, of snowy winter setting. I tried it with and without your summer setting, just tried ONLY winter file, and it keeps happening, can you fix this?

Yeah, Winter scenery works when there is ice on the lake with realworld weather, so between January and april in the sim (starting in December in real life). There is no other way to put ice, even with snow presets. It a sim limitation.

    Version History

A lot more details to the winter scenery : snowbanks, fishers, snowmobiles, smoke effects. Note that with the ice not forming in winter in the sim in this region, you must put more than 24 units of snow in the weather setup. Takeoff and landing can be also hard to realise. This is a FS2024 bug. Removed some external libraries requirements.
