    Description

    Looking for some local culture?
Enjoy the Hangar Art Show featuring the art of the well known Yukon and Carcross resident, Daphne Mennell. (paintings not actual size) If you ever get to Whitehorse you can see her impressive statue of a horse situated on the hill going into town.Sorry all paintings are sold out but visit her site to see her other important Yukon works.

If you take off south and turn left, you will pass over the little town of Carcross. This was originally known as Caribou Crossing and was an important stopping point on the Klondike trail from Skagway to the gold in Dawson. I have flown there myself and loved it.
The airport has a well maintained gravel runway and several docks for parking your Twin Otter or other float plane.

This project features several custom buildings (Mathew General Store, The Caribou Hotel and the Carcross Station-Museum) and two bridges, the White Pass and the new pedestrian bridge. Tourists still climb aboard the White Pass train on the historic rail built in 1899 for the Klondikers.  It winds its way from Skagway over the White pass to Carcross.

Enjoy the art show and the beautiful scenery.
Be kind to animals, they make us human.

I must credit for some of the wonderful airplane  to JP Fillion.  Here is the link.  https://www.jpfil.com/quebec-fs2020/collections.htm
There are numerous people enjoying a stroll downtown and on the pedestrian bridge.  Those are from Dave's collection that is found on Flightsim.to.

Thanks for your message. This airport was done when I was first starting so I forgot to add them in. I have updated it. I can no longer find Dave's people in the database.
    thanks.

Please do me a favor and check out the town bridge. When I flew there this am it was all messed up. I also saw some anomalies in the valley with elevated lakes, so I am unsure if it is something in the program. Obviously I did not create it this way.

I have your scenery but there are no trees anywhere near Carcross. What is missing here?

sorry for the late reply.. Is this still a problem. re no trees. This is the sub arctic but there are trees. I know that MSFS removes trees in sparce or not well mapped areas. I guess to save space.. Anyway, if this still persists, send me an image and I will compare. :)

I see a lamp post and a big white patch on the water between the orange and pedestrian bridges. Also the water has a very clear height change just off the bridges in the bay. Have you looked at it since the WU11 changes, or maybe they did some more terrain changes after to mess it up?

Thanks.. I see what you mean. When I first did this airport there were many "land spikes" and so those terreforming repairs I did seem to have been fixed in later versions. So I shall take a stab at a fix.

For the water level change, I actually see the same thing in Ottawa in the river. I think it’s just bad quality terrain in SU11.

    I have the same thing.

It's beautiful! Thanks a lot. Just a remark, can you check the heading of the windsock along the end of runway?

Thanks. I took a look at it and it appears that the default windsock still exists. I took it out and moved the other one to the end of the runway. I have flown into this airport a couple of times and wouldn't be surprised if the wind were somewhat different one end from the other due to the close proximity to the mountains.

The 5 star is much appreciated.. We get extra points for 5 stars. :)

Thanks for you answer. I have checked twice today, with fixed weather and I have still the issue.

The windsock points not the good direction, can you check here to solve the windsock issue:

You have made this using the wrong naming that may cause crashes or sim error, this has been pointed out a while ago by ASOBO, shame as it seems an amazing work you did here. You cannot use MODELIB.GBL in a scenery unfortunately, perhaps next update will fix it.

Oh Oh! what a beautiful part of the world this is. I loved doing the research into it. Lookout New Zealand and Canadian Rockies - this is amazing flying country. I would love to visit - but for now I thank Flight Simulator, and so will you. Definitely on the list.

    Porty Hardy Airport CYZT

Port Hardy is one of the most important airports on Vancouver Island and is home to Wilderness Seaplane which continues to serve the region with a fleet of Gruman Goose'.  It has an ILS with glideslope on Rwy 11 -  dial in 109.5 for the localizer and glideslope.  It has a new terminal building in which the roof resembles the cross section of a wing.   I spent some wonderful days up in that area at Telegraph Cove - 40 miles south, but have been a fan of this wild and beautiful part of Canada for years. See the artwork of Emily Carr for instance. I wanted to incorportate some of the artwork of the coastal indigineous peoples -Kwakiutl First Nations -so I included them as highlighted in the terminal building.  (dugout canoe and exterior facade)
