    Description

    San Juan Islands 2024    48.708337, -122.910595

This is the new MSFS 2024 version of Wookie42’s San Juan Islands he built 3 – 4 years ago in MSFS 2020.  He did a beautiful job on these 26 individual airports/airstrips.  I recently revisited them using MSFS 2024, and the results were mixed.  A few of them looked good in 2024, but most were not as good.  I decided to recreate them all, from scratch for MSFS 2024.

Wookie42 also did a beautiful job on his published web page.  His description and images are superb.  Visit his web page to see them.

My San Juan Islands 2024 contains the following airports/airstrips:
Many of these are private airstrips (permission required) some are even closed today. Several have no ICAO codes, so I have created codes for them.

    • ·         Allan Island Airstrip                   (SJI05)
    • ·         Blakely Island Airport               (38WA)
    • ·          Burden Field (Rabbit Run)    (61WA)

Thank you so much for making these available for MSFS 2024. My favourite flying from 2020 is back - Christmas arrived in April! The scenery that you produce just brings to life so many wonderful small and eclectic bush strips in the most interesting places - amazing stuff.

I flew the Wolfmanslack version in 2024 and thought it looked OK. However, there are always ways to improve, so it will become part of the San Juan Islands 2024 package.
    Thanks.

Nice collection. This area is nice to visit now and then.

Is SJI02's runway 02/20 supposed to be evened out, an a/c seems to exist there in the aerial. CKR was filled with rocks.

Managed to pull of some sort of landing on the unmarked strip https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2746289469

Are you planning to do more of these? I recall a curvy one with a dog leg, from OZx days.

Thanks GreySkies. I will check on SJI02 and CKR. Please verify that the old 2020 versions are not overlapping. Please let me know which other San Juan strips you would like to see added. I am enjoying your San Juan Is video. Thanks.

I am currently flying this area now and had to pause to write this. You have dramatically improved this area so much and made the airports extremely enjoyable. Thank you so much for this work. As soon as I can spare a few bucks, their yours.

    San Juan Islands 2024

San Juan Islands 2024 is a package of 26 recreated airports and airstrips across the San Juan Islands, specifically designed for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This add-on updates and enhances locations originally built for MSFS 2020 to ensure optimal compatibility and visual quality in the new simulator. Several of the included airstrips are private or closed and have custom ICAO codes where needed. Required libraries must be installed separately and the airports are not compatible with MSFS 2020.

    Skwentna Airport (PASW)

Skwentna has a population of about 30 people and lies on the south bank of the Skwentna River at its junction with Eight Mile Creek. This small village is located west of the Mat-Su Valley and is a 70-mile flight from Anchorage.  The first permanent settlers did not show up until after the Alaska Road Commission cut the Iditarod National Historic Trail in 1908. Roadhouses were later constructed along the trail, including the Old Skwentna Roadhouse, to service the prospectors, trappers, and Alaska Natives who used sled dogs to transport goods over the trail.
