    Zellhausen Glider Airfield V2 - Image 1

    Description

    Introduction and Credits

I want to start with a big thanks to jdiegel who created Zellhausen Glider Site in the first place. He passed his project on to me so I did some refinement that I hope all who know the place will like. The basic work including the hangars are his. I improved lots of stuff around them.

    The real airfield

Zellhausen glider site is a small airfield 35 km southeast of Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Gliding club LSV Seligenstadt-Zellhausen operates 7 gliders as well as 2 ultralights and a Robin DR400 as tow plane. The airfield features five runways, four of these are only used for glider landings (35L/17R, 35R/17L (south), 35R/17L (north), 27/09). The latter is the unmarked grass strip next to the deer compound. The landing strips have a length of no more than 300 m and are used only into one direction. The main runway has a length of about 1,200 m.

    Content

Generally you will find a good deal of extra detail and corrections. I won't list them all but the most important are the following:

    • The radio masts at Mainflingen are now natively compatible with We love VFR 1. There no longer is a need for my patch to avoid duplicate masts. In any case the masts included in this scenery will be displayed.
    • New flag
    • Added no trespassing signs
    • No more floating cars in the parking lot
    • Refined vegetation in and around airfield
    • Removed artifacts from satellite picture
    • Added tons of details such as bicycles, solar panels, trash bins, hay bales
    • Changed static people for animated ones
    • Adjusted static aircraft to the exact types or look alikes acutally flown in the club
    • Refined cycle track east of the airfield, removed grass, added light poles and people
    • Improved bridge north of the airfield
    • Added apron lighting (just two lights, airfield is strictly VFR)
    • Added ferry and surroundings in Seligenstadt
    • Cell tower south of the airfield

    Recommendations

There are a couple of free mods available that depict real aircraft of the club:

    Robin DR400-180 D-EAGZ

    Rolladen-Schneider LS8-18 D-2435

    Rolladen-Schneider LS4 b D-4296

I created custom views for all these planes to make them easier to use if you are interested in that. You will find it in the custom views section on this website.

I also recommend my depiction of the annual airshow held at Zellhausen. You find it here:

    Zellhausen - Open Airport Airshow

    Zellhausen - Winter Edition

Airfields full of glider activities look weird during winter. Not much is going on except for an occasional single engined flight. This alternative version removes all static gliders and summer activities and adds a few people in proper winter clothing. Nobody's gotta freeze.

    Installation

To see all detail you will need the free UK 2000 and FSDG-libraries from the marketplace. You also need to have installed all World Updates (mainly Australia, Germany, Oceania and Britain). Also make sure you install all the libraries in the dependencies below. They are quite common. Many are just recommendations because they only account for one or two minor objects.

The Winter Edition is a standalone package. If using it, don't have the regular airfield installed.

Thank you for your comment and rating. I checked it in 2024 with a friend. How did you get rid off the trailers that the sim seemed to have placed randomly in the deer compound?
