Description
Welcome to Channel Islands National Park
The Channel Islands National Park is part of the Channel Islands in southern California.
It's located approx. 20nm off the coast of Santa Barbara. If you like island flying and avoid populated places, these islands are a recommendation.
Few other places in SoCal are so far out. If the mainland is too busy and aircrafts are stacking in Catalina, go here and you will most likely find your peace.
Most of the park is administered by the NPS headquartered in Ventura, where the Channel Island National Park visitor center is situated too.
However, The National Conservancy, an environmental organization, owns and manages large parts of Santa Cruz Island, the largest island of the park.
Besides access by sea, Channel Islands Aviation offers a year-round charter service to the islands out of Camarillo Airport.
This pack includes:
Point Bennett Research Station Airstrip (uncharted)
San Miguel Island Ranger Station Airstrip (uncharted)
Bechers Bay Airstrip (uncharted)
Christy Airstrip (CA97/uncharted)
Santa Cruz Ranch Airstrip (44CA)
All of the airstrips are unpaved, in moderate conditions, private and public use is prohibited.
Christy Airstrip has a sloped runway with recommended landings to the East and take-offs the West.
The airstrip has rising and challenging terrain on three sides, so be careful.
Santa Cruz Ranch Airstrip has a quite sloped and bumby runway. Recommended landing to the West, take-off the East.
The surrounding terrain is rising on three sides.
Installation:
Drop the folders into your community folder
Required Libraries:
Mikea's AssetPack
Dave's Crooked Library
(thanks for creating those!)
Note:
Where applicable, I used the real names and codes.
Where not, I took the names and designators from MSFS2020 to prevent scenery conflicts.
Santa Cruz Ranch Airstrip´s real code is 44CA, however, this code is used for another airport in MSFS2020, so I had to make up another one.
This scenery is based on the X-Plane 11 sceneries I've created.
Known Issues:
Until there is a greenhouse object available, the greenhouses next to the San Miguel Ranger Station are left out.
There hasn't been released a BN-2 Islander yet :)
As always, feedback and comments are appreciated!
Enjoy!

There's a major terrain problem with Santa Cruz Ranch. (And it is in fact 44CA in the game).

Thanks for the Channel Is strips which I just discovered. It seems SU8 and SU10 especially have wreaked havoc on the mesh / elevations. It's tedious, but I have to revisit all 20 of my airports after each SU. It seems the Asobo / MS SDK folks don't care about us GA guys and what happens to our small airports. Your CA97 is now a trench.

Has anyone tested this since SU10???

You gonna bring this up to update 5 compliance?

Don't count on it in the near future. I became quite weary on having to update all my sceneries with every big update. I will do at one point, but with two sim updates coming up in the near future, it feels like everything I do has to be re-done/checked up again and again. But yes, at one point I will look into it.

I understand that. I'll keep my eyes open.

Thanks and Great Job! I still have to fly to the other small ones on the islands so I'm not sure if the same happened there with the trees

Give me some time and I will look into it. Probably a problem with changed polygon priorities after an update, which happened several times already without touching anything.

I was working on these strips as well - since the default runways have the wrong surface in a couple places. I hit the ID issue with Santa Cruz Ranch and put it everything on hold for a bit.
Cheers!

I'd swear there's a hint of an old strip at Smuggler's Cove, as well - but I didn't find any info/history about it.
