Dounreay Nuclear Power Station, Caithness, Scotland - Image 1

    Description

This representation of the Dounreay Nuclear Power Station in Caithness, Scotland is an improvement over the autogen buildings, but is not using handcrafted models so is far from an exact replica.  I've made some creative use of generic Asobo assets for the buildings and clutter on site which means this probably doesn't hold up to close scrutiny but gives a decent overall impression of the facility from a distance - so please follow the civil aviation rules on restricted airspace around nuclear power stations and avoid getting too close! 😉

The mod includes hand placed buildings, fencing and general clutter, plus some revised autogen buildings. I also modified the coastline terrain and removed trees where required.

DEPENDENCY 1: You will need the excellent We Love VFR Region 1 to get the models for some chimney stacks. Thank you PuffinFlight for letting me use some of your models! My add-on includes exclusion rectangles to avoid double-chimneys if you are also running We Love VFR Region 1.

DEPENDENCY 2: World Update XIII: Oceania, for the spherical reactor building

Please leave a comment and review if you like this scenery 😃!

It'll take a while, but I'll gradually work my way through adding scenery to this list of nuclear sites.

Yet another nice power station to adorn the UK coastline Flak. Really looking forward to Oldbury when you get the chance. Thanks for your efforts.

Fantastic Flak. I think I said earlier that Bristol to Gloucester is a route I often fly, so Oldbury will make a difference for me. Look forward to seeing it when it's released. Coastal flying is really nice when you add in your power stations and Stingers piers.

I've realised the reactor buildings at Oldbury probably aren't suited to being assembled out of the various bits and pieces in the base Asobo scenery, so I'm starting a custom model for them. Not a big problem but it'll likely add a bit more time to the overall process!
