    Walter Peak Airstrip (NZ59) - Image 1

    Description

Walter Peak Airstrip, New-Zealand, for MSFS
Real-life airstrip with fictitious ICAO code NZ59
    Version 1.5

    --What's new--

    v1.5
Made compatible with World Update 12 "New Zealand" of February 2023.

    v1.4
    Recompiled with SU11 SDK.
Few terraforming adjustments here and there.
    Only Orbx/Base mesh package included.

    v1.3
removed the Airport Services definition files that caused services to disappear from not only this airfield (as intended) but also all the airports in the region or even worldwide (bug from SU5).
So now you may see marshaller or pushback here even if it's not realistic at all, waiting for this situation to be corrected by Microsoft/Asobo.

    v1.2
Reworked to make it compatible with Sim Update 5 (only the normal, "Base Mesh"/"Orbx Mesh" version)
Added a water runway in the bay for some fun!

    v1.1
Added a version for better compatibility with Mikeaat's NZ mesh (20m interpolated).
(No changes made to the "normal" version)

    v1.0
    initial release

    --Description--

Located on the shore of Lake Wakatipu, Walter Peak Farm is a famous area where people visiting Queenstown often go, especially since you can go there onboard an old steamboat, the last one in southern hemisphere! The Walter Peak airstrip is few hundred meters away from the farm and can be used to cross the lake towards Queenstown airport in only few minutes.
Nothing complicated with the airstrip, it is pretty flat and you can land there with a Cessna Caravan. Ideal with the Orbx P750!

    --The scene--

It's a new airfield as it doesn't exist in default MSFS. I used default assets, custom handcrafted buildings and also some assets from Beekay's library. Please make sure you have it installed in your "Community" folder.
The surrounding has been heavily edited as the whole Walter Peak Farm has been handcrafed.
This version proposed here is for for use with the new World Update 12 "New Zealand"

It's a good complement to my other airstrips around Lake Wakatipu:
    - Mount Nicholas Airstrip NZ58 (https://flightsim.to/file/16211/mt-nicholas-airstrips-nz58)
    - Greenstone Station NZ57 (https://flightsim.to/file/19084/greenstone-station-airstrip-nz57)
    - Paradise Airstrip NZ56 (https://flightsim.to/file/19404/paradise-airstrip-nz56)
    - Glenorchy Airstrip NSGY (https://flightsim.to/file/19442/glenorchy-airstrip-nzgy)

    --Installation--

    First remove any previous version.

Just unzip and drop the "sbworks-airport-nz59-walterpeak" folder into your "Community" folder of MSFS.

It is recommended to install this library:
    - BeeKay-Pack1 v5.0 (https://fr.flightsim.to/file/8887/beekay-pack1)

Double checking, have the issues from SU5 been corrected yet?

Recompile with new SDK for SU9 ?? I really loved this airport when it worked !

Hi. What let you think it doesn't work? Can you provide more context? Works well on my side. Doesn't need to be recompiled, works well with SU9 as is, but you need the latest version of NZ Mesh from Orbx (if you use it) as it fixes the terraforming issue.

yeah CTD on touchdown in SU5 for me too

Hi, are you sure you deleted the previous folder (as recommended in the readme) and used the one from the latest version? If you don't delete the "old" folder, part of the problem remains.

    yep never had downloaded before

Are you using the version for the default and the OrbX mesh, or the one for Mike's mesh?

    Mikes mesh

OK as mentionned this one package was not updated to correct the issue with the SU5. I'll update it as soon as possible.

Following SU5, getting CTD here the moment of touch down. Same as NZ58. Cheers

Nice work! Charming and beautiful location. Any chance you could include a water parking spot or two by the docks for seaplane operations in your next update? Can't get enough of flying in NZ.

Thanks! Hey, good idea indeed! I'll think about that, for sure.

Great job. Tried it with orbx and no problems. I fly mostly VFR in the SI and its great to have recognisable landmarks and airstrips to fly into. Any chance of the Earnslaw sailing between Queenstown and Walter Peak? With Smoke biollowing out? :) Maybe when we get a better SDK eh!

Thanks! Yes, Earnslaw is definitely on the list of upgrade!
