Description
This mod adds the Thirty Meter Telescope among the telescopes of the Mauna Kea observatory (Hawaii).
It's construction is starting and it could enter operation in 2029.
With a mirror of 30 meters, this telescope will be the 2nd biggest telescope in the world in the next decades, after ESO's EELT.
The scenery also patches Asobo's Mauna Kea observatory that has several mistakes and missing telescopes.
This scenery is part of my mega project about Giant Telescopes : https://flightsim.to/file/12401/giant-telescopes
Tested compatible with FS2024.
Version 2.2 :
In version 2.2, an alternate scenery is provided, locating the TMT in the Canarias. Indeed, recent news from June 2025, Spain is offering to locate the TMT in La Palma Island, which could save the project, facing US budget cuts and reluctance from the Hawaii citizens.
The TMT Canarias scenery has to be used in combination with the Canarias Telescopes for Microsoft Flight Simulator
Optional libraries :
Download and install the “Dave’s 3D People Library” in your community folder.
Download and install the "Windy Things library" in your community folder.
Check documentation for information about the observatory, and for instructions in case of conflicts (overlapping buildings).
Thirty Meter Telescope & Mauna Kea observatory + Canarias option
Explore the Thirty Meter Telescope and Mauna Kea Observatory in this mod, featuring the upcoming monumental telescope set to be the worlds second-largest. Enhance your flight simulation experience with a detailed patch of the Mauna Kea observatory, correcting errors and including missing telescopes. Version 2.0 is fully compatible with World Update 10 USA, offering a realistic and immersive virtual observatory experience. Make sure to install the required libraries for full functionality and refer to the documentation for additional details.

I am still using FS2020 and FS2024 and I manage my 2020 and/or 2024 folders with MSFS Addons Linker.
To save space on my hard drives, I wanted to know if, in your latest update, the droide-droideflags, droide-tmt, and droide-tmtcanarias folders were the same in both your 2020 and 2024 versions. In other words, if a single installation was sufficient for both simulators.
Only the droide-tmt2024 folder needs to be activated for 2024.

So, using Addon Linker aswell, i created a MSFS2020mods folder and a MSFS2024mods folder to have both versions. The sceneries are not that big, this should not be a problem for hard drives space.
Also i noticed that other developers are now using the 2024 conversion technique i found, and published on some forums. So you may find more sceneries where the original 1 folder per scenery was changed to 2 folders (the first beeing with same name as FS2020 version).

For my part, I added the suffix _20 to the FS20 folders and _24 to the FS24 folders.
As these mods are in the same folder managed by MSFS Addons Linker, I use the latter's “Never enable this addon” function to activate some without activating others.
