#Real-Life Drag and Drop

Robin DR400-180 Régent D-EAGZ
(the registration can be changed)

The DR400-180 Régent is a modification of the standard DR400 cadet of Asobo. The model/frame is the same but very similar to the original Regent of 1979.
The performance, weight&balance, tank capacity, the outside livery, the cockpit textures and a few instruments were modified.
It's a standalone aircraft and don't change the standard DR400 Cadet of Asobo

Modifications (similar to the real DR400, D-EAGZ)

Engine
Lycoming O-360 A3A 180HP
Fuel consumption
round about 35l/h
Propeller
diameter and pitch angle of the original plane
Weight&Balance
Empty: 1366 lbs / 620 kg
Maximum take off weight: 2425 lbs / 1100 kg
Fuel tank capacity
Main/Rear tank: 110 liters
Left tank: 40 liters
Right tank: 40 liters
Auxillary tank: 50 litres
Total: 240 liters
Due to the missing of a suitable selector switch, there is only one tank. So don't be surprised wenn you start with 50% fuel, that are 120 Liters ;-)

Livery
D-EAGZ white, red and gold (there is still a D-EAGZ livery in flightsim.to for the Asobo DR400 cadet)
If yo want you can change the D-EAGZ to another registration or add further liverys to this plane.

About the original plane
The original plane has its home on the gliding airfield Zellhausen (scenery on flightsim.to) in Germany and is often seen in EDFC Aschaffenburg (scenery on flightsim.to) for training or NVFR. The D-EAGZ is used mainly as a touring and tow plane. Until 2018 the DR400 was stationed in bolzano/italy.

Installation: Drag and drop the folder "DR400-180 Regent D-EAGZ V1.4.1" into your community Folder

Have fun!

Hi, the Robin is a lovely plane to fly. I had a share in a DR400 Regent 180 based at our gliding club at Challock UK. I am using this model to replicate my flight to the south of France although the livery is blue and gold instead of red and gold. (I posted it on Flightsim.to hoping that a livery could be created).
I do notice however that the take off performance on this model is much less than the real aircraft, it wouldn't take off when I replicated the load we had on board. Can this be tweaked by any chance?
Apart from this it's flight handling characteristics once airborne is similar to the real aircraft and is a delight to fly. Thank you for the work you have put into this.

Hey, thank you for your input.
I wonder a little bit about the sentence "wouldn't take off". I simulated a flight on my reallife home airfield (Zellhausen, Germany, grass) a few minutes ago with 87% fuel, 170, 170, 130, 130 lbs for the passengers. I was near to the maximum takeoff weight. I took off without problems... What were your loads? Perhaps i can try it with your loads...

      Hiya,
Thanks for responding, I put in 170 for me; 230 for my friend who is rather larger than me; 30 & 20 lbs on rear seats and full fuel.
On the actual flight we had full fuel in the main tank and full fuel in the wing tanks which hold 8.8 gals each (126.7 lbs total). Try it at our airfield EGKE in Kent UK and see how you get on. The field is not flat and has a rise in elevation when taking off from the south end.
I will be interested to hear from you.
      Kind regards.

Hi, I tried it again with the same loadings and it took off ok this time, not sure what happened before. Regards.

I tried it too. You're right in north direction it is very close to the trees. But by the way i don't know were the correct runway is 😉 And Challock Airfield seems to be very hilly and curvy? The other direction is okay for take off...
      Best regards

It is a bumpy surface at Challock and the slope has got bigger over the years. We have two runways marked, one at each end. We graded the field at the North end and it is a better surface.
      Glad you tried it.

Hi, it's me again. You mention that other liveries can be downloaded and used with this model. Can you advise how this is done please? I am interested in the Robin DR 400 blue livery. Thanks.

One of my favourites. great work!
    Any add-on liveries available?
    • Tydirium85

Hey, you can use all liveries of the asobo cadet theoretically. But you have to create a new texture folder in the DR400 Régent folder and you must add the texture in the aircraft.cfg. Perhaps I make a short guidance for that in near future.

The aircraft is gorgeous, but on my sim the propeller, don't turn even with the engine running. Can you please tell me how to fix this issue? Thanks in advance!

The propeller don't turn? I never had this problem. I tried it 10 minutes ago and I couldn't reproduce the issue. The propeller turns synchron with the engine...

In my sim, the engine was running, and the propeller was static...

So weird reading about Zellhausen and Aschaffenburg given that I basically live there! I didn't know we had this amazing plane here. Might visit some day.

Is there a way to add other liveries? Great Plane BTW! Love the dirt as you enter the cockpit.

      Hey,
yes, the "dirty" is from a real photo of the step area. The black layer disolves slowley 😉

Yes, there are ways to add other liverys. The model is the same as DR400 Cadet and Dauphin so you can use all liverys here on flightsim.to.

Very nice model, but I think it would be cool if you would add an EFB or something for navigation.

hi not sure if its a bug but after flying for a while, the water temp goes up all the way to red and never goes down, i was at multiple altitude and never went past 2500 rpm, could you check it out? amazing plane otherwise!
    • Tydirium85

      Hey,
water temp? Or do you mean oil temp? I'll check it. Perhaps there's a wrong display area in the temperature gauge. It could be relict of the "old" engine, which had less performance (120 HP) and other operating temperatures.
      Thx for the hint 😊
Your're right, the power setting is at 2400 to 2500 rpm for cruise flight and >2600 rpm for take off
      Best regards

thank you , yes oil temperature hehe my bad , yes i think its an operation value based on the the old model, thanks for checking it out 😊

Oil problem solved. The performance of the oil radiator was too low, so the oil temperature reached the red area.
      Best regards
