KOLM Olympia Regional Airport
IATA: OLM, ICAO: KOLM, FAA LID: OLM is a public use airport located 4 nautical miles (7.4 km) south of Olympia, a city in Thurston County and the capital of the U.S. state of Washington. The airport is owned and operated by the Port of Olympia.
All models including apron and taxiway markings, are handcrafted. This scenery is derived by using 3D models in Google Earth, satellite imagery and photos from street view in Googles Maps. I have included two open hangars, the Glacier Aviation Jet Center and the large Spana Flight Aviation hangar. Also included is the Timberland Regional Library Administrative Service Center and other nearby buildings.
Olympia Regional Airport is a general aviation public airport offering aircraft service and maintenance operations, flight instruction, hangars and tie down space, state and corporate aviation facilities, and land and buildings available for lease for aviation related use. Thee airport was build in 1928 at a cost of $35,000.00. In 1941 after the start of WWII the airport served as a satellite to McChord Field. From July 1942 thru August 1943 it was home of the 37th Flying Training Squadron, part of the 55th Pursuit Group and a fleet of P-43 Lancers and P-38H Lightning interceptors. The airport was returned to city of Olympia in 1947.
The airport does not offer commercial passenger airline service. The closest airport with commercial airlines is KSEA or KPDX.
