Description
This is an upgrade of Sumburgh EGPB in sunny Shetland, Shetland's main entry point by air.
I was going to spend last summer pounding every single ferry and air route up here until they were all in the bag. I would no doubt have gotten some quality reading done while waiting for my pointless return journey as places like Papa Stour are somewhat short of options to bop the night away. Or even have a slash.
More likely I would've spent the entire time in Lerwick WH Smiths reading the same magazine until it was time go home having been fogged out throughout.
All of the aprons have been replaced. Proper lighting has been added. Rocks have been buried in the runway approaches. Most of the buildings have either been replaced or erased. The ground markings have been told to go away and new ones dragged in. Car parks done. Roads juiced up. Fences all over the joint. More windsocks. General detail has been smeared all over like a dirty protest.
The main Debbie Downer about this is the topography, or lack of it. The real one has some interesting elevations in the surrounds. This doesn't, nor does the stock version for that matter. For some reason the terrain went mad in development mode so it had to be brutally flattened.
No custom buildings or owt, though amazingly the real ones look worse than the autogens. I couldn't actually find anything ugly enough to match reality in many cases.
There was also no way of replicating the control tower area in a convincing manner so a concoction has been created that won't offend you if you've never been to the airport.
The taxi system system needs replacing as it has the Shetland curse of fuel bays everywhere. I'm going to wait until after the update to do this as they should be curing microscopic taxi signs with it.
This goes in conjunction with the reigged Shetland mod that now fiddles with every single other airport in the islands other than Out Skerries - https://flightsim.to/file/1067/shetland-islands-complete-overhaul
If you have the older version of the above and haven't updated you may see some doubling up of items at Sumburgh as I stripped out what was in there and inserted it into this.
V 1.2
Last summer I drove all the way here to hang out and take lovely pics with the intention of updating this.
Then those Asobo creeps came out with a top tier version of this airport and broke this. You may be a storage miser like myself and prefer a few mb vs 1.5 gigs, obviously bigger is (much) better.
I still might do a 'proper' version of this, but I ain't got time now so this remains a pretty basic rendition without custom buildings.
The aerial image has clearly moved a bit but I can't be arsed to address that either.
This updates elevations mainly to make it work again. Elsewhere the odd ground texture is improved and helipads are added.
Now Scasta has been developed primarily into a dog walking site, this is where the offshore helicopters fly from. And the sheer amount of traffic is absolutely incredible. Wouldn't wanna live near here any more.

Is this scenery a standalone version or does it work together with MFSF WUXVII EGPB without complications?
When using this scenery: does MFSF WUXVII EGPB have to be deactivated?

Unfortunately, it seems like World Update 17 introduced a few nasty terrain glitches, including on both ends of runway 09/27. Would be great if you could take a look at it and see if there's something you could do about them.
Edit: Whoops, I just realised that I didn't even read the update notes carefully enough and didn't know that it was one of the airports that got a handcrafted upgrade! I just went there as it's one of my go-to locations for regional flights and thought it was just a terrain issue. I guess I'll switch over to the Asobo airport, but I want to thank you for giving me a lot of enjoyable takeoffs and landings in the Shetland Islands over the past year.

On 6 July 2022 not working. If I remove the scenery it's ok. Anyway let me say that Supersud have great sceneries. Check them all.

Hi ... love your scenery, however tried flying to Sumburgh today and I have found that your Sumburgh Airport scenery if entered in a flight plan (done on the world plan within the sim) won't load - loads OK if your scenery is removed from the Community folder. I have Sim update 8.

Hmm. I can't replicate that. I will experiment further.
I was halfway through readding elevations to the airport but couldn't take any more so it's a bit of a mess at the moment.

Maybe your addon is conflicting with one of the other addons I have … I’ll try only having Sumburgh in the Community folder and see what happens and let you know👍
Update: yep tried it without any other addons in the Community folder and it works fine ... however not sure where the conflict is :( ... cheers for your great software :)
