Welcome to Cape Barren Island in Tasmania's Furneaux Islands Group!

Version 2.1 - Updated for MSFS2024

Just south of Flinders Island, Truwana / Cape Barren Island is home to a unique little airfield with three runways including a large primary east-west running runway and two
intersecting shorter grass runways. The island is home to a small community of 65-80 residents administered by the Cape Barren Island Aboriginal Association. This airstrip is serviced by Par Avion (Airlines of Tasmania) based in Hobart and Flinders Island Aviation, located out of Bridport using a variety of single and dual-engine prop aircraft such as the Cessna 404, 206 and GippsAero GA8 Airvan. This airstrip is also available for use by the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Ambulance Tasmania King Air aircraft performing medical transport and evacuation flights.

Cape Barren Island Airport (YCBN) features three grass and dirt runways. The primary runway, 07/27, is approximately 1,000 metres long and is suitable for small regional aircraft and general aviation. The remaining runways are 600m and 500m long and provide operational flexibility in changing wind conditions typical of Bass Strait. The airstrip is bounded by a star-picket farm fence and there is a small terminal and land-side parking area. There are no large hangars or fuelling 
infrastructure.  

This scenery includes a high-resolution aerial imagery alongside custom ground textures for dirt areas to ensure accuracy with real-life conditions. The terminal building and shed alongside the land-side parking area are all represented accurately based on limited reference material. Marker cones, gables and permitter fencing are all accurately represented. Version 2.1 includes new, higher-resolution, 2023-24 aerial imagery alongside vastly improved modelling and texturing 
around the terminals and parking area.  Elevation and vegetation placement has been adjusted and improved alongside corrections to the aircraft parking, taxi and runway locations for better compatibility with AI traffic and MSFS2024’s career mode.
