KNUW - NAS Whidbey Island - Image 1

    Description

WIKI: Naval Air Station Whidbey Island (NASWI) (IATA: NUW, ICAO: KNUW, FAA LID: NUW) is a naval air station of the United States Navy located on two pieces of land near Oak Harbor, on Whidbey Island, in Island County, Washington.

The main portion of the base, Ault Field, is about three miles north of Oak Harbor. The other section, called the Seaplane base for the PBY Catalina flying boats once based there, holds most of the island's Navy housing as well as the air station's main Navy Exchange and DeCA Commissary. The NASWI commanding officer also has command of a satellite airfield, Naval Outlying Landing Field (NOLF) Coupeville, on central Whidbey Island at 48°11′24″N 122°37′48″W, roughly nine miles south of Ault Field. Primarily used for Field Carrier Landing Practice (FCLP) by carrier-based jets, this field has no permanently assigned personnel.

NASWI supports the EA-18G Growler, MH-60S Seahawk, P-8 Poseidon, EP-3E ARIES, and C-40 Clipper aircraft.

    ABOUT THE SCENERY

I used base objects to replace the generated buildings and repainted all of the taxi ways and runways. There are a lot of ground object and F-18s (as you can see from the description above. Unfortunately I did not have any EP-3E models available but may update in a future version if I can find one that wont break the bank.

All runways have the carrier lines for practicing landings. Due to some limitations these mock ups are slightly shorter than it should be. Know that I did not paint individual liveries for the F18s or P8s.

    DEPENDENCIES

Make sure you have the base game items installed as my sceneries use buildings from Mirimar, patrick, stewart, knfl, etc.

    THINGS TO COME

Please know that in the meantime if you notice anything that needs to be corrected you can DM me and Ill try my best to include it in the update. I really hope you enjoy this scenery as much as I did making it!

A lot of time and money goes into scenery. Though not required, any donations or a note of thanks is greatly appreciated. I take comments very seriously, so if you see anything that can be improved or fixes needed, please leave a comment!

Just tested in 2024, It kinda works. The hangars from the Miramar package do no show up, I think because Asobo renamed them in 2024. Would love to get an update

Good Day, I know this Version of Whidbey hasn't been updated in a while, but here is the P-3C's and EP-3's that you were looking for. https://flightsim.to/file/18883/team-fs-kbt-p-3-series-ver-1-320-1. All you need to do is add it in your description as a dependency.

Very well made and very accurate. Well, at least I assume so based on what I can see in 2024. I know this is labeled as a 2020 scenery which is why this still gets 5 stars. Only thing negative, and this is just a personal preference, is the amount of static aircraft. I could do with a few less.

AMAZING. Is it possible to easily reduce the static aircraft on the field slightly or is that not feasible?

Absolutely love it man. One of my fav bases to fly into.

Amazing work ! There are some hangers that look like the doors will open ? Is that in the future ? Either way, stoked to have this base.

Looks pretty much how I remember it when I was stationed there. Maybe too many static aircraft parked outside though.
