Joint Base Andrews - (KADW) - Image 1

    Description

Version 4.3 I have added back the alert hangars south of the hot refueling pit. Apologies for missing that those were deleted. Thanks to the community for mentioning it. In addition to, I have completed the fire practice area next to the alert hangars as well. Enjoy!

Version 4.2 To the best of my ability I have added the new AF1 hangar (currently under construction). Ill continue to further update this area as new developments become available. Note that some items were "imagined" as it isnt complete yet. I have also added some touchups to the painted elements and have added more static aircraft using the UK2000 statics. This is free on the Marketplace. With the addition of static aircraft this means some parking was removed. Lastly, I have changed the edge painted lines to lighted.

Version 3.0 and on address the lag issues caused by certain objects. Please make sure you remove the old version before adding new versions to your community folder.

BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD: Note that this scenery was made without consideration of other 3rd Party addons. If you have other addons for this airport installed, expect conflicts.

About: Joint Base Andrews (JBA) is a United States military facility located in Prince George's County, Maryland. The facility is under the jurisdiction of the United States Air Force 316th Wing, Air Force District of Washington (AFDW).[2] The base was established in 2009, when Andrews Air Force Base and Naval Air Facility Washington were merged.

    Features:

    1. Hand crafted Air Force One Hangar. You can park inside but no parking spaces will start there for now.

    2. Open and closed hangars. The picture with the SC Designs F-16 inside is not a simobject, that is a spawn point.

    3. Some areas are updated beyond what the base game shows. This is the hot pit refueling area and the new Air Force One Hangar under construction. The new hangar will be available in the near future.

    4. Custom vehicles and buildings.

    Updates on the Horizon:

    1. Painted Lines (Completed as of version 2)

    2. More parking (Completed as of version 2)

    3. More vehicles and ground equipment

    4. Night lighting (Completed as of version 2)

    5. JBA Entrance Sign

    6. Taxiway Lights

See Changelog for a full list of whats changed.

Excellent work! Only concern is I have two control towers where actual KADW only has one.

Parking spots are too tiny. Cant inject bigger cargo AI planes to it. I had to edit flight_model.cfg for this picture, but i will reverse it. It would be good, if you can modify cargo parking spots to be military_cargo medium (+92ft) and couple of heavy (+160ft)

Love went into this, I can tell. Thanks so much.

    That's how you do it.

Enjoying the new update. I have civilian Lear jets and Gulfstreams on the ramp, are these from FSLT? or CIA? I really enjoy the quick service at McDonalds.

Haha! Yeah the statics are from uk2000. No one knows who they are and give me funny looks when I ask. Glad you enjoyed the stop at McD’s!

Oh! UK2000l lol. Thanks for the reply! Back to KADW!

Is there a way to disable the version of KADW included in DD's Washington Landmarks so this is usable?

You can use the dd landmarks and this, i have both.

Does it not conflict with the DD KADW?

Unless DD has removed his models around KADW it will conflict. Unfortunately, I cannot remove his models and did now want to build around them as I have worked on custom modeling such as the hangar etc. Im not sure why KADW was included in his scenery as its a landmark scenery and not an airport scenery.

Perhaps reach out to DD and see if there is a way to turn that part off (similar to turning off statics with his other airports). not sure if there are options with KADW but would be amazing if there are!

Do not use with DD landmarks. I use KDCA without statics only.

Definitely conflicts, although maybe an exclusion zone could be created for the airport.

Also, I noticed two tail wings sticking through the hanger doors on the center building on the East side after I removed DD's addon

Make that NE side as well. You can see it in one of your preview pictures towards the end.

The tails would be intentional. Look at google maps. Though the hangars used don’t explicitly have the molding to go around the fuse it is simulating a closed hangar door with the spot in use.

I still have yet to find an installer with options on the DRZ Washington landmarks to test for those that wish to have both. For now I would say go with one or the other.

I ended up going with yours. I like their scenery, but their ILS for Andrews is completely off, and they have never been too receptive to ever making any changes to their products.

I rank most of your Airport Sceneries 5 Stars! I really enjoy your work. Is it possible, in the future for you to take on and do KEDW Edwards AFB. This is an Airbase with loads of history to include a B747 loading area for the Space Shuttle that would land on Edwards long dirt runways. The MSFS default KEDW Edwards AFB is just horrible! Please help, if you can!

Thanks! There are a couple of other projects in the pipeline, but I'll look into Edwards!

    Excellent! Great work! Thank you!

Langley Air Force Base (IATA: LFI, ICAO: KLFI, FAA LID: LFI) is a United States Air Force base located in Hampton, Virginia, adjacent to Newport News. It was one of thirty-two Air Service training camps established after the entry of the United States into World War I in April 1917.
