    EGPI Islay Airport

    The island of Islay is part of Scotland's Inner Hebrides.  The airport lies on the western coast of the island with no shelter from the Atlantic Ocean.

    The airport has daily services to Glasgow, Oban and Colonsay.  There is also a dedicated parking area to the north of the airfield for light aircraft where two accommodation pods are available.

    Latest version

    Re-positioning of airfield and surrouning added scenery to match latest Bing Map.  Extra detail added around airfield and surrounds.

     

     

    Version 1.0

    The default airfield layout has mostly been retained with the addition of custom lighting at thresholds and runway ends.  Buildings on the airfield and some in close proximity to the airfield have been replaced by custom made models.  Night lighting has ben added in various parts of the airfield.

    Version 1.1

    This version replaces some of fencing from previous version with new model and also adds new fencing.  Various custom-made models have been added at various parts around the surrounds of the airfield and some animated people have been added at several points on the airfield.  Control Tower has been repainted.

    Version 1.2

    Corrects parking spot signs 5, 6 & 7

    Adds missing day texture.

    Adds livestock in some surrounding fields.

    Adds more detail to airport surrounds

    Version 1.3

    Rework of dimensions and markings of main runway 13-31

    Upgrade of approach lighting,  threshold lights,  runway end and side lighting.  All attached lights are now directional.

    Uses latest version of Animated Humans library

    Thanks for this! Sorry for the cheeky request, but you mention 'Oban' in the description, and it seems we don't actually have a decent version of Oban in 2024. StudioCD has gone to ground it seems. Any chance you could be persuaded to take a stab at it? It's one of my favourite airfields. Thanks!

    Got a few things on the go at the moment, but can perhaps look at this as well. Have you tried the 2020 version in 2024?

    @Scotflight I have just now actually, and was pleasantly surprised. It hasn't been updated since 2023, and there are a few texture oddities, and the odd floating building, but you have to look for them. Overall, it looks remarkably well. So, stand down, I guess ;) It would be nice to have a fancy up-to-date, ready for 2024, and actively maintained version, mind you ...

    Many thanks for this airfield. Nice work. Just one remark: the runway designators have changed since your last update. RWY 13 became RWY12 etc. Which makes the RNAV approaches unavailable in the sim.

    In the addon description you said it is updated to the latest bing maps - do you mean MSFS2020 latest bing maps in game or the map mod which allows you to download actually the latest bing maps (or google maps)? Latest version of bing maps is basically available in MSFS2024 at launch and later in MSFS2020 as well.
