    KFRG-Republic Airport - Image 2

    Description

Republic Airport was developed by Sherman Fairchild as the Fairchild Flying Field in East Farmingdale on Long Island, NY in late 1927 as his flying field and airplane factory on Motor Avenue in South Farmingdale was inadequate to support the mass production of his Fairchild FC-2 and Fairchild 71 airplanes. Fairchild purchased property on the south side of Route 24-Conklin Street and had the airport's original layout plan prepared on November 3, 1927.

Note: Please make sure your MSFS 2020 is updated with all the regions. Make sure you check the list of dependencies. they are HIGHLY recommended to bring the airport to life. We have added a few to make your experieince even more enjoyable. Remember that downloading a dependecy is a one time process! Once you have them on your local PC, you never have to download it again.

Finaly a BIG thanks to DHH and EL for all the help and especially to weok, solid_shadow and the developers of KFLY airport for allowing us to use some of their amazing designs including the open hangars(Parking slots 1 & 2). Thank you guys! Grab their work for KFLY and their other downloads at:

    KFLY-Meadow Lake Airport

NOTE!!!! Again, Please make sure your sim is completely up-to-date with all regions installed.

Good morning. I appreciate the comments and just a few weeks ago, we posted this to another supporter: "I appreciate the comments and request. We still would like to redo Republic solely for 2024, and we are seriously considering the project. It would be the largest project we have ever done. There are a few new unannounced sceneries currently under development which need to be finished first. When the decision is made, I promise we will make the announcement here. Thanks again for you interest." So, as we have mentioned before, yes we are thinking about it and we certainly keep everyone informed.

Hi...its on the list but, its a massive undertaking as we want to build every building in the 3D modelling world so they would be custom and exact to Republic...never say never....Ill keep you and everyone posted....we do have 3 fully customized airport coming soon, all at once for everyone to enjoy....thanks again

Excellent work that is a massive improvement over the stock scenery. Spent several years flying here and felt like I was back home

Thanks for the kind words. At the time, it was a massive project. Part of me want to do a complete revision for 2024, but there are too many other items on the list. Maybe someday...thanks again.

Great work! I'm going for my PPL soon with Icarus and was searching for an up-to-date version of FRG, this will do wonders! Thanks!

Good morning...really glad to hear you like and congrats on your PPL...My first ride in a plane growing up on Long Island was at FRG. We have to plans to update FRG to 2024 in the future.

Fantastic job! I did most of my training at KFRG in the late 90s. I remember we had to go to CT to practice landings to avoid the landing fees. Thankfully, in the sim there are no landing fees. Just a note, I see 2 windsocks near runway 14. I'm not sure if this is how it is at the real airport. Thanks for a great airport!

Thank you for the kind words.....I really appreciate it...I will take a look at the two windsocks and see if the sim itself might have done something...I grew up on Long Island and my first ever GA flight at a young age was out of Republic. I have been hooked ever since! Have a great New Year and take a look at our other freeware GA airports. I think you might enjoy them!

Absolutely! Once I find an excellent developer, I check out everything they have done. For KFRG, is KFLY airport still needed? I loaded KFRG without it and did not see too much of a difference. Happy New Year!

Are Taxi names in this release supposed to match up to real-world? I'd like to reference real-world published diagrams, but seems that the taxiways are not named accordingly here.

Otherwise, looks nice! Even though Islip is closer to me in real life now, I have fond memories of flying out of Republic one the small handful of private lessons / flights I took.

Good morning . We are actually in the middle of a major upgrade to FRG. All new 3d signage along with updated taxiway signs. Might even throw in a few custom 3d buildings. My first ride in a GA plane was at Republic at age 7. Been hooked ever since. No release date but will keep everyone informed as we progress with the project

Love the scenery but I seem to struggle with performance around the airport. I've tried disabling AI traffic since I figured it's because of nearby JFK and LGA but I don't see any major difference. Do you think if I remove some of the dependencies from the community folder can improve the FPS a bit?

Good morning...Really sorry for the poor performance on your end. Would you please send me you system specs and also, any other sceneries or areas you struggle with when flying? We have discussed an upgrade for more custom 3D modelling in the future but want to hold off to see what MSFS 2024 has in store for us. I will report back to you with some ideas after I see what your specs are. Thanks again for the heads up. Talk soon.

Just flew to this nice airport again, after a trip over Manhattan and New Jersey. Have you considered letting more of the areal photo-realistic ground pop through?

Good afternoon...actually working on a major update to KFRG...ground textures are included in the update along with custom 3D buildings and signage. Don't have a release date yet but, hopefully before the holidays. Thanks for the kind words.
