To get there, type "bishop" or "lighthouse" in the search box on the world map.
Bishop Rock is a small rock at the western end of the Sorling Islands. It is known for its 49 metre high lighthouse, and is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the smallest island in the world with a building on it. A first lighthouse, which was started in 1847, was destroyed before it was completed. The present building was completed in 1858 and opened for business on 1 September of that year.
In 1843, Trinity House (the British Lighthouse Service) considered building a lighthouse at Bishop Rock and work began in 1847. Chief Engineer James Walker chose a 120 foot high structure with accommodation and optics on iron pillars. The lighthouse was never lit, and on 5 February 1850 a storm blew the tower away.
For the second attempt, James Walker began by building a stone structure in 18511. The site presented a number of difficulties: the scarcity of available land, and the slope of the rock, which meant that the lowest stones in the foundations had to be laid below the level of the lowest spring tides. Despite the many problems, the construction of the tower did not see the death of any workers, and the lighthouse was first lit on 1 September 1858. The total cost of the lighthouse was £36,559.
In 1881, Sir Nicholas James Douglas inspected the tower and considered renovations to strengthen the structure. The work was completed in 1887.
The difficult access to the lighthouse by boat led Trinity House to build a helipad on top of the lighthouse in 1976. The lighthouse was fully automated on 15 December 1992.
The lighthouse has been used as a filming location for one of the current BBC One call letters.
In 1901, the three-masted ship Falkland struck the rock and her main deck touched the lighthouse.

Hello
Can someone give me a little help please? The installation instructions say to delete version 1.1.1 Do I necessarily have that version? (I am using Spud's EGHE, shorelines and scenery). I cannot find such a version.
How will I know that I have correctly installed this beautiful version over Spuds very acceptable version?
Many thanks
Mike

Hello expire,
If you don't have version 1.1.1 installed, there is no problem.
Also, Spud's scenery mentions :
Bishop Rock lighthouse is included with the scenery file, but there's a much better version here that you should be using.
So again, there is no problem

Hi, thanks for your work on this scenery. Judging by the photographs online, Wolf Rock lighthouse looks almost identical. I was wondering if it would be a simple project to base scenery for Wolf Rock in your Bishop Rock lighthouse?
Hello Clive, thanks for your message.
Indeed the Wolf Rock, which I did not know, is, apart from the base, perfectly identical to the Bishop as it was designed by the same engineer (James Walker).
I will modify it and put it online after I finish the Sounds Mirror located in Greatstone Lakes.

In 1973 i spent 6 months Camping on St Agnes and one of my fondest memories is being Tucked up in my sleeping bag listening to the far off Boom of Bishop's Maroons on Foggy nights. Nice Work !

They are available in different strengths.

Hi,
Thank you for your offer, which I gladly accept.
As long as the SDK doesn't allow for a real rotating headlight beam, I'll place your effects.
Thanks to you

Excellent, thank you. I love the rotating lens, and even the seagulls have some animation :)
I have been hoping that someday someone will give attention to the Needles IOW, it sorely needs it.

Looks great! Any idea whether this scenery is compatible with the airport scenery (which includes the same lighthouse)? Is it possible to set this one as priority?
