Description
William Parsons, 3rd earl of Rosse, and his wife, Mary Rosse, built the 19th century biggest telescope in their Birr Castle, in the center of Ireland.
This telescope has been for more than 60 years, with unpreceded performance, allowing William Parsons to discover strange structures in some nebulae (much later, Hubble undestood that he in fact discovered galaxies, outside of our own galaxy).
Astronomy continues in Birr with the Lofar station.
Also, Birr Castle's reputation come from it's magnificien gardens.
These highlights are included in the scenery, and more information about William Parsons discoveries are included in the documentation.
