KFAR - Hector International Airport for MSFS 2024 - Image 1

    Description

Fargo International Airport – KFAR for MSFS 2024 – Version 3.2

    Version Numbers

All versions for 2024 will start from 3.0 up. Versions for 2020 are currently in the 2.0 range.

    Version 3.4 - Release Date 15th April,2026

Clearance frequency has been moved to 125.125 - also used as an emergency frequency at KFAR.
Taxiway J has been closed to match the current airport state, and gates 1-4 have been isolated whilst building work continues on the older part of the terminal. AI may drop aircraft on gates 1-4, but if I removed them, the Jetways will go too.
Car Parking and paving near the new terminal extension have been redone and lit.
Taxiway attachment to runway 18 have been updated to cure a problem where AI aircraft and Beyond ATC get directed to leave Taxiway A, cross RW18 at C and Taxi to the runway start via B.
The airport beacon has had the old searchlight style head replaced with a more modern LED head to match reality, and an Asobo Beacon merged with it so it can be seen from a good distance.

Please download and place all three files into your Community Folder to guarantee full benefit of the changes.

    Version 3.3

Adjustment to the Radio Frequencies is the only change on this version. Fargo uses the same frequency / controller for Clearance Delivery and Ground, but the default provided by Asobo was sending Ground to Tower when used with BeyondATC. It's great to get feedback on these problems so they can be understood and fixed. Thanks so much.

    Version 3.2

Tuesday Feb 10th 2026 saw the new gates come into use.  Gathering what information I could, and guessing the rest, I have installed the new gates, and taxi lines, and renumbered them based on live video feeds and departure boards.  It may come as a surprise the gate 1 is now furthest from the new extension.  The bridge from the Car Park to the Terminal is still under construction, so I have just put in a framework.
Apron lights have been fitted in approximately the right positions, but ground markings are guesswork.

To my embarassment, the Windsocks were pointing the wrong way, which has been fixed.  The car park buildings has been moved closer to the terminal, as I think my position made for too long a bridge span.  Unlike previous versions, the version number of the package will appear in MSFS_Add-Ons-Maker.  All used libraries are integrated into this airport, so just the one zip with one folder.

    Version 3.1

This release is pretty minor, but addresses a user's observation that Gate 1 was missing.  I was under the impression that it had been removed for the extension to be built, but this is not the case.  I have finally got my red parallel lines to work around aircraft parking positions, so that is included in this release.  I have placed Jetways onto the extension in the positions I believe them to be, but there is no parking as yet, so that is not included.  They have painted some apron lines, but to put them in would be guess work.  Not yet included it the car park bridge.  I can't get any dimensions at present.

    Differences:

The last release for 2020 included the new extension to the terminal, but in its current state. Ditto the new Car Park Building. The 2024 version therefore reflects the current state of construction as of mid October 2025.

This version includes the new hangar attached to the Fargo Jet Center, construction of which seems to have been over the last couple of years. Another Hangar is under construction close to the old Terminal on the South East side, but I have no photos or dimensional information on that at the moment.

The new lighting system in 2024 has enabled lighting effects that were not present before, so things like the Minuteman Missile at the Museum now look more realistic. Many of the buildings had no lighting at all, and many of them have now been modified. Street and Apron lighting has been upgraded, though there is still some popping of lighting despite having done as much as reasonably possible to stop it.

Taxiway changes have been implemented, so B2, B3 and B4 have been sign posted. New features in 2024 have allowed quick resolution of taxiway ground signage. The last 2020 version had the main car park before the changes that were made in 2022-23. The car parks that have been updated also include randomly placed cars.

I have also experimented with new features such as Instancing. This is where duplicate models only require one draw call (I think). I have used this on some – but not all – of the street/apron lighting.

    Known Issues:

Try as I might, I cannot get the obstruction lights on the Control Tower to work to my satisfaction. One LOD mysteriously lights the side of the building. This I will mark as a work in progress.  Every car in the car parks is a separate object.  If instancing is working, I would expect them to be drawn in one call per model, but they seem to be appearing very late.

    Static Aircraft

It would be great to have static aircraft around the museum, but sadly there seems to be a lack of 2024 compatible object libraries right now.  Please message me if you know of a good source of old aircraft that I could use to bring this airport alive.

    Release Information

I must admit to releasing this in a bit of  a hurry.  The builders are due to finish early next year, so change is constant at the moment.  The bridge between car park and terminal has yet to be built, but the Jetways have arrived but are not fitted.  The Apron markings are done already, but without a new Google Satellite image I cannot accurately place them.

    Connomar,

Here is a link to show you the updated exterior textures. I believe this same pattern carry's over on the air-side as well.

Sure is. I thought they had removed it whilst building the extension, but apparently not. I am working on adding it back in, and correcting a few other issues. Thanks for making me aware.
