    Use Winwing MCDU with PMDG 777-300ER - Image 1

    Description

    This is a MobiFlight profile that allows you to use the Airbus MCDU with the Boeing 777-300ER. To work, it requires Python, along with the Python packages websockets, gql, and simconnect. It also requires the beta version of MobiFlight, as the current stable release does not support the Winwing MCDU.

    Instructions
    To start, be sure to download and install MobiFlight, link found below:
    https://www.mobiflight.com/en/index.html

    Once installed, go to Extras, Settings, then checkmark under the 'Beta Versions' section, "Yes, I would like to receive beta version updates". Select 'OK' then close MobiFlight and reopen. Upon reopening, it will present you with the prompt that there is an update. Allow it to update, then reopen. After the install and reopen is complete, close the application.

    Now you will need to install Python, if it is not installed on your machine already, and then install the packages. Instructions are on the link below:
    https://github.com/MobiFlight/MobiFlight-Connector/wiki/Installing-Python

    Once Python and packages are installed, you can reopen MobiFlight. Unzip my file and place the MobiFlight profile file 'WinWing Airbus MCDU to PMDG 777.mfproj' where ever you would like to store it. In MobiFlight, you can go to File, Open, then select my profile "WinWing Airbus MCDU to PMDG 777.mfproj". You can boot up the sim, load into the plane, get power to the plane so the MCDU can be on in the sim, THEN open MobiFlight and press the play button in MobiFlight. MobiFlight should not be open or running until their is power to the plane. If it still continues to not show the screen, try closing and restarting MobiFlight and pressing play again. You may also need to get into the FMS screen to "jumpstart" the screen.

    I have noticed if you have MobiFlight running before their is power to the plane, the screen will not turn on, but the buttons will work. I assume this is a bug with either the python packages or MobiFlight beta.

    PLEASE NOTE:
    As per the instructions on github site:
    Do not run SimAppPro in parallel. After using SimAppPro unplug and replug device to USB port.

    Button Details:

    All the number, letter, BRT and DIM, and L1-12 keys are the same as the Airbus MCDU. I also made the '/' and the "SP" key the same. Below are the changes to the other keys:

    WinWing Airbus MCDU -> PMDG 777-300ER FMS
    DIR -> INIT REF

    PROG -> RTE

    PERF -> DEP ARR

    INIT -> ALTN

    DATA -> VNAV

    F-PLN -> FIX

    RAD NAV -> LEGS

    FUEL PRED -> HOLD

    SEC F-PLN -> FMC COMM

    ATC COMM -> PROG

    MCDU MENU -> EXEC

    AIR PORT -> MENU

    Blank key next to AIRPORT -> NAV RAD

    Right Arrow -> PREV PAGE

    Left Arrow -> NEXT PAGE

    OVFY -> DEL

    Hope this helps you a bit. Please note that I did not create the github package or MobiFlight beta, so I am unable to fix the bugs that they may present. Please be kind :)

    Love it, it works fine and the new Beta already has all the needed Python, which makes it very easy now. Download the new Beta and open the Project... That's it.

    Any chance you can work this magic to make the MiniCockpit stuff work with the 777???

    about 2 months ago

    Just to clarify, does one still need to download Python onto the machine? Or just the BETA of Mobiflight?

    After following, still have an error with PMDG 777 WINWING CDU.PY terminated message... buttons works but not the screen.

    buttons dont work anymore

    Amazing! I love it that I can use one hardware setup for so many different planes.

    The tip about adding the permission to the option.ini file really helped get the screen working. Very much appreciated!

    Screen works and fine using the FMC in the plane, however buttons on physical mcdu don't work. The screen reflects what is being done on the PMDG fms; any one figure this out yet?

    10 months ago

    Same problem for me. Mirroring the FMC very well but not possible to use keys on the MCDU.

    I confirm it works with 777F MSFS2024

    Hi there, I seem to have an isolated issue where the display works, mirroring everything as it is in the sim, but none of the buttons work. I have python with the correct packages. If I manipulate buttons in the sim the display changes.

    As MrOttoPilot has stated in the comments, this does also work with the 300er if you brought the files over from 2020 to 2024 (though not supported and buggy) for the screen to work on the 777, you need to add this to the 777_Options.ini file:

    [SDK]
    EnableCDUBroadcast.0=1
    EnableCDUBroadcast.1=1

    about 1 year ago

    was able to get this to work with MSFS 2024 too. But only the buttons work. No display and no backlights on the buttons . I run mobiflight in beta , installed pyton with all packages and first turn on the 777 bevor start mobiflight. Restart Mobiflight .....no chance to get the display and the backlight to work. Can i try anything else? Can MSFS 2024 SU2 Beta be the Problem ? Firmware and simapp pro updatet.

    I was able to get this to work with MSFS 2024 but it is worth noting I had to add the following lines to the Options.ini file in the PMDG folder.

    [SDK]
    EnableCDUBroadcast.0=1
    EnableCDUBroadcast.1=1

    would this work with PMDG 777-200ER in msfs 2024?

    about 1 year ago

    Yes! I can confirm this profile works for the PMDG 200ER in 2024.

    about 1 year ago

    Works perfectly! Thank you very much for your efforts! The only thing I am missing is that the button lights are all dark.

    It looks like its something I shouldn't see. Its a good way trying to save the money.

    Hello! What is the FO?

    Hi, I'm referring to the First Officer CDU, meaning the CDU on the right side. Thanks for your reply!
