Scotland is a country located in the northern part of the United Kingdom, known for its rugged landscapes and dramatic scenery. It is characterized by diverse geography, including towering mountains like Ben Nevis (the highest peak in the UK), rolling hills, vast lochs (lakes), and a rugged coastline with cliffs and sandy beaches.

The Scottish Highlands offer remote and stunning wilderness, while the Lowlands are flatter and more fertile.

Key landmarks include the Isle of Skye with its jagged mountains, Edinburgh’s historic Castle on Castle Rock, and the mysterious Loch Ness. Scotland is also home to ancient castles, stone circles, and picturesque villages, making it a haven for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike.

This mod for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 adds several landmarks that are absent from the vanilla games.

It contains the following:

-McCaig's Tower (and the chemney of Oban distillery)
-Kerrera Lighthouse

This mod also adds POI markers for landmarks featured in the photogrammetry areas around Glasgow and Edinburgh like Bothwell Castle, Celtic Park, National Monument of Scotland and Murrayfield stadium.

Update 1 (v1.0.1): Outer Hebrides

The Outer Hebrides, an archipelago off the west coast of Scotland, is known for its stunning natural beauty and remote, tranquil landscapes. These islands are characterized by vast sandy beaches, dramatic cliffs, and rolling hills. The rugged terrain is interspersed with calm lochs and peat bogs, offering a stark contrast to the rich, clear blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

Highlights include the Isle of Lewis, home to ancient sites like the Callanish Standing Stones, and the Isle of Harris, famous for its breathtaking beaches like Luskentyre. The islands are sparsely populated, with small villages and traditional crofting communities, offering a peaceful, almost untouched landscape that draws visitors seeking solitude and natural beauty.

This update adds the following landmarks:
-Kisimul Castle
-Lews Castle
-Calanais Standing Stones
-Lewis War Memorial
-Butt of Lewis Lighthouse
-St Clements Church, Rodel
-Scolpaig Tower

This update removes all the unnecessary vegetation on Hebrides Islands. I added back some forests but let me know if I missed any significant area.

Additonally, I added two watermasks:
-Laxdale Bay, just next to Stornoway airport
-Traigh Mheilein
As you may know, the technique available to modders to add watermasks is far from perfect: a bit glitchy from certain angles and quite heavy to keep good quality  pictures. Let me know if you want more of them nevertheless.

Scotland for MSFS2024

This add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 introduces iconic Scottish landmarks that are missing from the base game. It includes notable sites such as Blackness Castle, Tantallon Castle, and Iona Abbey, among others. In addition to these structures, the mod features POI markers for landmarks in photogrammetry areas like Glasgow and Edinburgh. Each landmark has been meticulously recreated using various online resources to enhance the in-sim experience.
