    Description

    You have come across an upgrade of SFAL Port Stanley Airport in the Falklands Island. Well done you. 

    I'm considering going on a wee holiday here to top up my tan, but I am pondering whether it's worth spending 10-15 grand to freeze my nads off on desolate moorland when I can accomplish the exact the same thing for 2 quid on the local bus. 

    I think it might well be worth it. 

    This is the main hub for internal flights on the Falklands with the occasional international visitor.

    FIGAS, the Falkland Islands Government Air Service, runs BN2 Islanders out of here to the weirdly huge number of airstrips that litter the islands. You ring them up and book the day before and then they work out the schedule.

    British Antarctic Survey Twin Otters seem to drop in fairly regularly and quite a bit of helicopter traffic. Of course the big stuff goes to Mount Pleasant and there's an excellent version here if you haven't seen it - https://flightsim.to/file/60881/egyp-raf-mount-pleasant

    All of the ground textures have been sent away in disgrace and replaced. All of the buildings too.

    There are two parking spaces on the main apron and a helipad. There is a larger parking space slightly off the apron which is where visitors seem to park, plus a fuel space and two startable hangars. There's also a fuel truck as there won't be many other places to top up.

    There's correct ish runway lighting and PAPI lights plus a couple of moving boats and a few other enticing details. 

    The real place is definitely not as flat as this, but there ain't no elevation data that's good enough to draw on.

    I was there on holiday on several occasions years ago, courtesy of Her Majesty. It's great to see it coming to life in the sim! Really need Mount Pleasant Airfield though to truly feel at home again :p Thank you for your amazing work!

    but it was mad by you, and so i must invest the time to visit it.

    Hi, Apart from visiting in 1982 and a return in 1984 with the RN I have visited 5 times since 2007 and plan to return this November, probably for the last time, its a long flight for a70year old.
    Loving Stanley Airport Thanks I have flown with FIGAS many times to the outlying Islands.
    As a Veteran I am lucky and get cheap flight with RAF and Cheap accommodation on the Island

    Thanks for providing a lovely place to stop on my trip up from Ushuaia and back to the South American mainland then points northward.

    I particularly appreciated the nice hangar to park in.

    Its been 39 years since I spent nearly 7 months there! Brings back loads of memories as it did when I ran into a chap at a local R/C flying field about 6 years ago who had married an Islander and had moved back to the UK.

    Supper job on the scenery well done Superspud. Like you I'd love to have a visit there so you need to pick your timing. From memory UK winter is Falkland Isles summer (If you can call it that!) For now I'll stick to the rain and cold in Wales

    great scenery! thanks for sharing! Only observation: Is there a missing cargo ship at the front of Port Stanley Pier? a suspended helicopter and trucks can be seen suspended midair.

    Fantastic work as always - loving the little greeter at the terminal 🐧! Thanks for the mention of EGYP in the write-up - it's nice to have somewhere to fly to now. I've got a few more scenery bits lined up for the Falklands to give us some more sightseeing opportunities, which should complement your upcoming airstrip updates.
