    Description

    **Update: Microsoft has released a Chicago update through the official store. This update does include some notable details, some of which are on this mod. Given that is more the "official" mod, I will probably focus more on suburban mods and areas not covered. However, I welcome anyone to continue to enjoy this mod, based on preference!

    This model includes the Magnificent Mile in Chicago. This adds improved details and updated information.

    Features Include:
    - John Hancock Center (including the full antennas, which were noticeably absent in the original MS version)
    - Palmolive Building
    - The Drake Hotel
    - Water Tower
    - Water Tower Place Downtown Mall
    - 900 N Michigan Ave
    - Park Tower Chicago

    Potential Improvements to be made:
    - When flying in the game, I noticed very minor rendering issues of one or two smaller buildings.
    - I am debating whether to expand to include the rest of Streeterville or make that a separate mod. I am open the suggestions on this.

    I welcome feedback on any of this project. The model was taken using the Google Maps imagery... Full credit and copyrights to the creators of those models, and this is purely meant as a project of love of Chicago with no profits to be gained from this.

    Thanks for your efforts. It looks good but is very taxing on the PC. My i5 9400k with 32gigs ram and a rtx2070 gets 12 to 20 fps in the area with all of your downtown mods loaded in. Any chance of doing Navy Pier?

    I do admit that the mods do affect the FPS and performance. I could try to make the filesize less, but it would sacrifice the quality notably. I have given thought to doing Navy Pier as well, but part of my hesitation is, as you mentioned, the already taxing demand on the performance for what is there. However, I am trying to research to see what options are available. I am also hoping that potential game updates, especially when DX12 becomes fully supported, will help improve this.

    Sounds good. Yeah I wouldn't load all at once. I would probably keep all the city stuff out, sticking to default, and just use Navy Pier along with the Meigs Field and Midway airport mods. I too am hoping DX12 leads to performance improvements.

    Is it possible to somehow export these files and load them into Sketchup rather than a flight simulator? I would love to create my own 3D model of Chicago using these files! Amazing work by the way.

    Glad you enjoy the mod! I actually pulled this from Google, but the program I use is specifically designed for FS. I imagine there are ways to pull these from Google in order to create a standalone file, though I don't have any specific programs I know of at this point.

    Very nice, but I don't see the Navy Pier ferris wheel or the stadium beside Meigs field, do you know if there's a download for that? Thank you.

    I have not, at least to date, done any mods for those items. I might have those on my to do list, down the line, though.

    These are awesome updates for Chicago - do you have any plans of doing any work around Waukegan (KUGN)? I think the current depiction of downtown Waukegan can use some sprucing up...and maybe even an accurate model of the control tower at Waukegan - the current one in MSFS is shorter.

    Ironically, I was "flying" around the North Shore yesterday (virtually), and I happened the notice that Waukegan needs some touch up. I actually added this to my list on my most recently added mod, along with Six Flags Great America... I can also look into Waukegan Airport as well! I do have several projects/mods in the pipeline, but I have it on my list!

    That would be awesome - Waukegan definitely needs a little attention given its' importance to NE Illinois in terms of history and transportation. It would be awesome to see downtown Waukegan and the lakefront industry represented - as well as does Waukegan National Airport. I look forward to more of your work though; I already downloaded all of your projects and they are phenomenal! Thanks for what you're doing!

    Thank you, and I really am glad you are enjoying everything! I agree that MS, although they created an amazing game, did overlook many areas like Waukegan and such. I'll definitely be looking forward to when I start working on that area!

    Excellent Work! I been to Chicago and it looks very authentic.
    Can you please do some of the skyscrapers in NYC?
    The default One World Trade Center has reflections of other buildings baked into it from the auto generated photogrammetry. A few of the other buildings in lower Manhattan also have this problem.

    Thank you! I can definitely see if I can give it a shot with some of NYC. I am working on a few projects ahead of that, but I'd love to see what I can there. I agree some of the buildings in NYC need some fixing!

    These sceneries are all fantastic,as this is my areamto fly in.Any way you could redo KMDW Midwy airport,because it has only basic gates,and nothing else.
