About this file

As an Alpha/ beta tester, it was a common complaint for a huge number of us that the tree height in MFS2020 was way too large. It seems like nothing was really done about this, or we were told it had to be adjusted from one region to another. Well…not so.

I found one simple XML file that , when certain numbers are tweaked, adjust tree height for the majority of the Conifer and Deciduous trees .

INSTALLATION :  **This does NOT go into the Community folder**

Open your MFS2020 folder…(where ever it is installed).

Drop the file 10_ASOBO_SPECIES in there and you should be good to go!

(My zip file has a backup of the original in case you dont like this file.

Just erase the ORIG at the end , if you prefer keeping the original MFS2020 10AsoboSpecies file.

( i myself dont have a steam copy), the actual folder path may be different if you have  a STEAM copy of MFS2020 but basically this file goes into the FSBASE/VEGETATION FOLDER).

The path may look like this :

C://Users/YourName/AppData/Roaming/Microsoft Flight Simulator/Packages/Official/Steam/fs-base/vegetation

If on steam you can also do a search for this file , which is the one being replaced :

IMPORTANT : Before every MFS2020 update, i would suggest dropping your original file back in to MFS2020, and if you find the trees are still the tall, nasty ones,  just follow the above instructions again to re install the shortened trees.

hello kingnothing75, I have been using your fix for a long time, today I made a comparison in the city of Naple, and whether it is with your fix or not, the trees remain as big as the buildings. Is it possible that with the last update your fix no longer works? thank you

The file seems to be overwritten with every update so just try re-installing it again.

I take it there's no way to put this into a mod package, it's read to early or that location and or file type just isn't modifiable via mod replacement?

Great job on this.. Much, much needed! It's amazing the difference it makes.. it makes the sim even more immersive and real.. and makes you realise how ridiculous the originial tree sizes actually were!

I would always support more realism with things like this...but I am wondering whether decreasing the size of trees creates the end effect of lowering the perceived tree density?

No, there is no change to perceived tree density, because only the height of each tree is reduced, not the quantity of trees. If anything , it looks more realistic and true to scale.

Great. I was complaining about this since day 1. I live in the tropics and we do not have such a luxurious vegetation.

And mine (Steam) was Microsoft Flight Simulator/Official/Steam/fs-base/vegetation

    @jschall mine is in here - \Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steam\fs-base\vegetation

Well, I placed your 10-asobo_species.xmlfile in the folder: C:\Users\Jeff\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steam\fs-base\scenery\Global\Asobo_Vegetation. And the result was I have completely lost all autogen trees in MSFS! All that remains are the tree images from the Bing aerial photography. By the way, in my Steam MSFS installation, there is no other "vegetation" folder. When I saw what had happened, I deleted the .xml file, and added in your 10-asobo_species - ORIG.xml file, whichn I renamed to 10-asobo_species .xml. I would like to get the autogen trees back! I'd appreciate any suggestions how I could get them back. Thank you, but your mod doesn't work for me.

This fix is awesome! I can finally see the rooftops of buildings in Boston's back bay! Thanks for this mod, truly great stuff.

Actually, it goes into the 'vegetation' folder , not Asobo-Vegetation

It should be , but i have the official version from the Microsoft Store. Can you please try downloading into that and let me know if it works ? So i can post an update for Steam users. Thanks
