Description
Langley Air Force Base (IATA: LFI, ICAO: KLFI, FAA LID: LFI) is a United States Air Force base located in Hampton, Virginia, adjacent to Newport News. It was one of thirty-two Air Service training camps established after the entry of the United States into World War I in April 1917.
On 1 October 2010, Langley Air Force Base was joined with Fort Eustis to become Joint Base Langley–Eustis. The base was established in accordance with congressional legislation implementing the recommendations of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission. The legislation ordered the consolidation of the two facilities which were nearby, but separate military installations, into a single joint base, one of 12 formed in the United States as a result of the law.
Crafted at the request of the Virtual Tactical Air Command (VTAC) and the Community. I hope you enjoy this scenery!
NOTES
This scenery is just the start. Everything needed is contained in the package. Forgive me on some of the painted lines. A lot of them were not visible in the sim so I had to freehand them essentially. Touchups and missing areas will be made in later updates.
Make sure you familiarize yourself with the parking map provided in the screenshots and the airport in general. I.E. DONT SPAWN A C-17 IN THE ALERT HANGAR.
PLANNED UPDATES FOR THE FUTURE
Expand scenery to include areas such as BX, Housing?, Docks, Base Entrance, etc.
Touch up and add painted elements to missing areas.
Touch up any ground textures.
Add more parking if desired.
Update the "Welcome to Langley AFB" painted spot. (If I can find a miracle to do so).
Update buildings as needed.

A lot of time and money goes into scenery. Though not required, any donations or a note of thanks is greatly appreciated. I take comments very seriously, so if you see anything that can be improved or fixes needed, please leave a comment!

Thank you for all of these excellent military bases. They are much appreciated.
I work at the Lockheed Martin plant in Fort Worth. Every day I cruise the flightline and often see a F-35 taxi out of the hangar and head for the runway. I tried to create that in the sim, but there are no parking spots on that side of the runway to start from. Also, the plant is very detailed by default, but the Navy side of KNFW is pretty barren. The WORST thing is that the localizer for RWY 18 does not align with runway.
Any chance you could do your magic at KNFW ?

Ill certainly check it out and see if I can show it some love. Parking spaces and buildings shouldnt be a problem but I am not great at creating ILS. Not sure if its a me thing or a sim thing or both but they never work for me when creating scenery so I opt for the default and leave it be.

Looks good to me at first exposure. Just one tiny question - and please don't take offence, OK?
Why oh why do most creators of airports in the USA and elsewhere try to "show them off" while using what I call "mood lighting"? Showing light flares, and dim, reddish colors doesn't help the average downloader to actually make out just what the addon will look like in "real" lighting.
I don't know why it is, but the Brits and Aussies don't often use this technique, and the effect of plain lighting on the quality of their deliverables is quite plain to see. For comparison, take a look at https://flightsim.to/file/21755/duxford-airfield-egsu, or https://flightsim.to/file/36080/perth-international-ypph-western-australia-tag21 and you'll see what I mean.
This isn't meant as a criticism, but rather me trying to get to the bottom of the issue of developers' presentation of their wares.

Great question. I have never noticed it as a thing americans only do but Ill try my best to explain why I choose this method.
First, I only change the time of day. No edits to the original screenshot. I am someone who often flys late so I am used to sunsets.
As a creator I want to have a good presentation of what I made and honestly, setting the time of day at noon can be too bright in a sense. Since this scenery has varying layers of colors to match the scenery irl, I use the "sunset" look to capture them better as well as take advantage of shadows from surrounding objects.
Sorry you felt a noticeable difference after downloading. Hope when you loaded it in the sim you still found it to be enjoyable in the lighting you prefer.
Best,
Zero

Thanks for the explanation, Zero - perhaps if we still had forums, I'd ask it of the general population. Not that yours isn't completely valid - just that I'm (probably) in the other camp, and prefer to see the scenery "au naturale" - not necessarily midday, but without the interference that is designed by Asobo to mimic lens flare, that I actually don't see when I look at something with my own eyes. Each to his (or her) own, I suppose, and I think that we can agree to differ on this one.
