Description
This add-on places AI Ship Traffic on the Great Lakes in North America. It is part of the Global AI Ship Traffic project and is a work around resolving the bug in MSFS which places all AI ships at sea level inclusive those suppose to be sailing on high level altitudes. Once the bug is corrected you will have to uninstall this package.
Don't expect ships all over - this add on does not intend to fill every corner of the sea, but rather to have models of different types and realistic to the Lakes region present.
This package does not include effect files due to the above mentioned bug.
For support and additional information please follow our threads on the project on forums.flightsimulator.com, avsim.com, fsdeveloper.com, sim-outhouse.com in English, on flightsim.no in Norwegian and Danish, on voovirtual.com in Portuguese, and pilote-virtuel.com in French.
Installation is simple: unzip and drop in your Community folder. Ensure you traffic settings for Ships and Ferries are 5-10% to avoid conflicts with other AI ship traffic including default.
Known issues:
- Models do not have effects such as smoke and wakes.
- Models do not have hard decks - it will be reintroduced as soon as enabled for simobjects by Asobo
- The MSFS engine is simple and not very stable; ships will some times be unstable or making strange movements if they meet other objects
- Not all ships appear in harbor areas with heavy scenery; some prioritization by the sim engine can prevent some ships from showing
- The water surface on the Great Lakes is not flat, and with the way this work around is done it means that sometimes models might be too deep in the water, some time too high
- If you use Little Nav Map and has the main package Global AI Ship Traffic MSFS V2 installed, you will see some double ships - the ones from the main package will however not show up in the sim as they are at ocean level and not at the lake surface due to the bug mentioned above.

Where are great lakes?

Thanks but unfortunately it doesn't include the great lakes. That's the one I'm looking for if anyone got a link for me...

Are you coming back now they've updated the terms of service? Sounds like it was just a big misunderstanding. This is still the best option to find addons well organized in one place and would be sad not to have you guys here.

Thanks for your work. Your major scenery addon (GAIST 3) gives so much more live into the world. However, this little fella here covering the Great Lakes won't come to live again: it simply gives me an infinite loading screen on startup. Removing immediately solved the issue. Maybe a little update here as well?

This file will no longer be updated here on Flightsim.to as I cannot accept the Terms of Service introduced by Flightsim.to. Please search for it elsewhere.

This is such a shame, that you are forced to do this. I was originally in favour of contributing towards an ad free system but do not agree with their approach to content providers. I hope a mutually agreeable solution can soon be found.

Such a shame that flightsim.to hate uploaders so much. Still, there are alternative sites to use, ones which respect content creators.

Where can we find the great lake extension? Went all over the web with no luck, I've found the V3 but not this extension. Thanks!

Any possibility of coming to a solution? This site is great for the end users, and it's been the most efficient web-site for downloading and keeping files. I doubt it will be helpful for your project to be away from this platform for too long either.
I found this read interesting:

"Are you the only one with this policy?
No, this policy is industry-standard among all modding platforms on the internet. For example, NexusMods has the same policy."
I hope this is a shit-storm in a glass of water, will be solved, and everyone will live happily ever after. It will hurt the entire community if Flightsim.to loses its position, as there are no good alternatives.

I started out just looking for a ship object to cover the flat satellite image of the ore boat at Two Harbors MN. But this is so much better! I fly GA a lot over Superior & Michigan and it's great to have the authentic traffic models in motion. Thank you!

Just curious, will you be updating this U.S. Lakes ship traffic package in the near future? Now that you have updated the Ultra-Beta package to 3.0

I really enjoy this mod as I live near this location and fly it often. Would it be possible to add the Miller Ferry and the Jet Express that service Put-In-Bay? They both are very prominent in this area of Lake Erie. Thanks for everything you do!

Is this mod still necessary after the GAIST Ultra update? Does it contain the new features from the Ultra update? Or will it come in the future?

hey, I love this mod, any chance you could add Irish ferries in future update please?

Is there any place to get this now?
