GAIST Extra Routes - Image 1

    Description

This file contains extra routes and textures created by Manfred Siedler to be used with Global AI Ship Traffic V7_1

This packages adds around 4000 ship movements on routes in European waters. In particular in the Baltic Sea, on the Elbe and in the Eastern Mediterranean, but e.g. also in the North Sea and along the coasts of Spain, France, and Portugal.

To install unzip and place the folder GAIST-Extra_Routes in your community folder. You must have GAIST-Ultra-V7_1 (Global AI Ship Traffic V7_1)  installed to make this file display correctly all the shipping, even it does contain a few extra ships, which will show independently..

Does "gaist-ship-routes_V1_3" overwrite the included traffic routes in 7.1 or do they add?

Very good addon if you want to see more ships in areas it covers. Not so good if you want them to be realistic, you will see boats where they don´t sail in real life.

So it is your choice and depends on your preferences if you find this great or frustrating. I will keep it! :)

It would be nice to see additional shipping traffic around Australia and New Zealand. We have many local ferries (Sydney, Melbourne-Tasmania), fishing boats (Eden NSW) and lots of the bigger cruise liners.
    Thanks

Hello, I think this addon is very good. But I can't see any ships, I put it in the community folder and the traffic is between 5 and 10. This is the first time I've used this addon, I didn't have any Global AI Ship Traffic in my community folder. The folder is as follows (photo) I have the msfs 2020. Can someone help? Thanks.

Thanks for posting the screenshot. It helps me to help you :D You have Version 7.0 installed and not the latest 7.1 and there is an important difference. With 7.0 you should also have an additional folder "gaist-ship-routes_V1_3" which includes all the standard traffic files. In V7.1 these are included in the scenery folder inside the folder gaist-ultra-v7_1.You do have the extra routes installed and should keep them, but they "only" include around 4000 ship movements and mostly in places where GAIST provided little traffic, so therefore it is easy to pick a place without traffic with only the extras installed. The standard files included in GAIST provides somewhere from 80.000 to a 100.000 ship movements. The better would be to download GAIST Ultra V7.1 and keep the extra routes. Your community folder should then contain two files related to GAIST: gaist-ultra-v7_1 and gaist-extra-routes.

Hello, thanks for the help. I already suspected that it must be because of this, but where do I get 7.1, in .flightsim.to?

you mean car ferries? In Norway a lot; in Finland some; in Denmark some, in Sweden so far not many, but Sweden has been put on the list for next update

where exactly are you looking and which simulator and offline or real time mode? You should have ships along the entire Spanish coastline if installation is correct and you are in offline mode.

Richtig gut!

    GAIST Extra Routes

GAIST Extra Routes adds approximately 4,000 additional ship movements to the Global AI Ship Traffic V7_1 add-on, enhancing maritime activities in various European waters. The routes focus on key areas such as the Baltic Sea, Elbe River, and Eastern Mediterranean, while also covering the North Sea and coastal regions of Spain, France, and Portugal. To use this add-on, installation involves placing the GAIST-Extra_Routes folder in the community directory, alongside the required GAIST-Ultra-V7_1.
