Phoenix Deer Valley Airport (KDVT) - Arizona
The City of Phoenix purchased the airport in 1971 for use as a reliever airport for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. A second runway was added in 1976, and the airport has evolved into the busiest general aviation airport in the country.
The Airport offers a complete range of services including fueling, avionics repair, maintenance, parts, flight training, new and used aircraft sales, and aircraft rentals. Cutter Aviation is its fixed-based operator and the airport is home to nearly 1,100 aircraft. The Airport encompasses approximately 914 acres of property and is located 15 miles north of downtown Phoenix near the intersection of Interstate 17 and Loop 101.
Version 1.0:
After the last 5.0 World update, Deer Valley Airport texture was ruined with a single texture. This mod fixes a number of things and cleans up the airport and surrounding area. Please let me know if theres anything that might need improvement or has changed in real life. Im happy to spruce up any pesonal area or FBO you like to fly out of, just ask in the comments.
- Removed the lake that covered the landfill nearby!
- Fixes, adds and removes taxilights. Unfortunately don't know, or have the ability to individually place lights.
- Removed or greatly reduced cars driving on taxi and runway. Added car paths to avoid having to drive down runway. Unfortunately don't have ability to choose what vehicles spawn or in what spots.
- Added night lighting.
- Three Helicopter pad spawn points, H1 furthest South spawn, H2 furthest East spawn
- Added large parking spots for planes like CJ4s infront of main terminal.
- Added surrounding chainlink fence.
Known bugs:
If request taxi to parking while already in parking, ATC will give you a path but you won't have the option to repeat back commands. Normal ATC taxi commands work fine.
Open cover hangars have invisible collision walls that had to be blocked off.
Future Plans:
2.0 Replace the Main Terminal, ATC building, Cutter buildings, flight schools and Civil Air Patrol building with custom made 3D buildings.
3.0 Add newest runup areas and newly made Delta taxiway. Update A, B, and C Taxiways.
Installation:
Unzip and insert phoenix-airport-kdvt-deervalley file into your community folder.

Very nicely done. My only complaint is there seems to be a big FPS hit landing/departing KDVT with this loaded vs. vanilla.

Ok, I can look at replacing some static planes for parking spots or just reducing some assets in general. It was my first airport and one I learned everything editing on, so I'm sure there's some optimizing I can do. Hopefully it doesn't have to do with the taxiway lights I just updated.

You're awesome! It doesn't seem like many other people are having the FPS issues (and I think the static aircraft look really cool), so maybe consider making a "light" version, if it's not too much work.

Great work! My home airport and just the addition of the run-up areas was a great addition to realism. Awesome progress on all the other areas as well!

Next will be the new delta taxiway. Do you know if the construction has been completed? I rely on google maps but the satellite imagery isn't that new. I've noticed airport diagrams have already been updated but not sure if its operable yet. Any idea?

There's a second file listed that's 124KB -- that's the new one. The old one is labeled as the "default" when it should be renamed or deleted.

Should be fixed now. Just a setting I forgot to hit when uploading new file. New upload should now be main file, and new and old files properly labeled. I left in old file in case anything was wrong with new upload and to give people choices. Ill probably get rid of the old one soon.

Great work. The color, hangars, all of it. Look forward to future updates. I don't really mind the static planes with AIG as it uses mostly airliners anyway and this airport is for GA. This is such a cool place to fly into. The default from Asobo was pretty bad before you got to it. Thanks again.

-Replaced broken or missing ATC tower. -Removed and replaced high detailed static aircraft for standard parking spawns and low quality models to improve FPS -Added more aircraft spawns but still might need more in future update.
