    Description

    This airport is a former World War II military airfield used by the 9th Bombardment Group to train B-17 and B-24 crews and is now the largest airport north of the Tampa Bay-St Petersburg/Clearwater region in Florida.   It has two active runways, including a 7000 foot ILS runway, and a control tower.  Scenery includes representations of actual buildings at the airport.  The area surrounding the airport includes photogrammetry buildings and trees, realistic from the air, but ugly when on the ground at the airport.  Attempts were made to replace or hide these bad visuals while on taxiways.  Separate GA parking areas are identified so parking at specific locations on the airport can be requested from ground control.

    To install merely place the kbkv-brooksville-tampa-bay-regnl folder in your MSFS community folder.  Custom models in this scenery were converted with ModelConverterX and do not include LODs.  If framerates are a problem for you, remove the file from your community folder.  Assembly of the scenery was accomplished entirely with Airport Design Editor 20 alpha 19.  Some scenery items are from kb_static_aircraft_FSX and FSX default libraries adapted with ModelConverterX.

    Since the last sim update the telephone poles are bright white in the daytime and they glow a very bright white at night as well as the textures of the American Aviation buildings are "washed out" at night and also appear to glow. There's also a tear in the parking area by American Aviation that physically effects aircraft going over it. There is also a random pole in the area. I'm assuming this mod is abandoned as it's received no updates since June 25,2021.

    Such a nice airport! Please update and give KBKV some love! The general aviation has some tears in the mesh and a random pole in one of the parking spots. The parking area by the office on the west side has your wheels below the mesh.

    Great scenery. But the layout does not match current charts. The area around the East Ramp has change since this was released. Hope for an update :)

    This is a great addition to my regular airports that I fly into... Please... Please do X39 North Tampa, my home field. I live on the airport and can provide limitless pictures of the airports, buildings and signage. Thx again for KBKV

    Any way to remove the FSX trees? Beautiful scenery apart from that.

    Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you. Oh, and by the way, Thank-you. This was the airport I learned to fly at. I have a buddy that keeps his PA-140 hangar there. Nice job. Looks just like it. I hope you add to an already good looking scenery.

    When this scenery was developed for FSX, there was a open airplane parking shelter and two t-hangar structures that are now gone according to the latest satellite imagery available. A hangar was under construction in the new imagery which I approximated as a completed hangar. Send me pictures if anything can be updated more. Also, the updated taxiways in the scenery are visually guesses for portions that were still under construction in the satellite imagery. It's interesting that Bing imagery is more current than Google Maps or Google Earth, but MSFS uses much older imagery than the current Bing imagery. That keeps me from updating some airports, but the KBKV background works okay with the changes.
