With the aqcquisition of Real in 1961 and the closure of Panair do Brasil in 1965, Varig became the main operator of the DC-3s in Brazil and latin america, being the backbone of the national operations linking the country in many less prepared fields and long sequential flights, with a excellent safety historic for it´s era.
Originally flown by USAF as 42-24133, this aircraft had a really unusual life, after USAF service she was purchased by Salem Engineering Company (when she got panoramic windows installed) as NC65266, went then to National Lead and private owners as NC6K, N88Y, N88YA and finally to England as G-BMCR. She was finally bought by Classic Air and flew with them until Ju-Air took her over. For some years they would offer nostalgic flights between Swtzerland and England. Even though this is not possible anymore, she is eventually seen in events with this shiny and neat polish.
The DC-3 were pivotal for Braniff Airways 40s and 50s, and the liveries used in this time are among some of the most reconizable ever. Brannif Airways ceeded many of it´s DC-3 to the USAAF during the war, as well as hiss Dallas Love Field to be used for training, whist taking supply flights to Panama military facilities (where many fighter pilots were being trained). The tight collaboration granted Brannif some international routes after the war, and helped leveraging a fast growth when it eventually would change it´s surename from "Airways" to "International"
