    Douglas DC3 - Braniff Airways - Image 1

    Description

The DC-3 were pivotal for Braniff Airways 40s and 50s, and the liveries used in this time are among some of the most reconizable ever.

Brannif Airways ceeded many of it´s DC-3 to the USAAF during the war, as well as hiss Dallas Love Field to be used for training, whist taking supply flights to Panama military facilities (where many fighter pilots were being trained).

The tight collaboration granted Brannif some international routes after the war, and helped leveraging a fast growth when it eventually would change it´s surename from "Airways" to "International"

    Douglas DC-3 - Pan American

One of the most iconic airlines in history, Pan American, or simply Pan Am. The DC-3 flexibility found a use among the powerfull Pan Am fleet in late 1963 so still on time to show the famous "blue globe" livery. The N 19912 (after services with US Army Air Forces, Pan Am, Panagra and Avianca) came back to PanAm christened 'S Clipperle, found good use in Germany linking Frankfurt Am Main to Stuttgart.

Douglas DC-3 - American Airlines Flagship

The SN 1920 was ordered in 1937 and is a "pure DC3" survivor since it was on civil service throughout WW2. It was in service with American Airlines until 1947, distictively being a plane that Eleanor Roosevelt flew in many occasions (she would pick the seat in front of the door, to be the last to board and the first to leave). It also depicted many pictures and artwork of the time since its relatives were serving in the war. In 2004 it was located in Virginia serving as a spray plane. The work to bring her to the original glory took 18 months, and now she is the oldest original DC3 still flying, and is kept in mint condition by the Flagship Detroit Foundation.

Douglas DC-3 - SAS Scandinavian Airlines System

DC-3 SAS SE-CFP "Daisy"! Today maintained and kep flying by Flygande Veteraner in Västeras Sweden (Flying veterans), the SE-CFP has an amazing history. It was originally built in 1943 and took part in the D-Day invasion. After war she served in Scandinavia with SAS with outstanding records. Since 1982 Flygande Veteraner has been doing an amazing job keeping the "Daisy" flying in special events throughout northern europa and eventually taking touring passengers.
