    Description

Robin DR400 Improvement Mod – REALSIM Edition

This mod transforms the default Asobo DR400 into a true-to-life trainer aircraft, using real-world flight manuals, POH data, and manufacturer specifications. Every change was based on official documentation and pilot feedbacks, to ensure maximum realism in MSFS

    Key Improvements:

    Flight Model Reworked

    • Lift, drag, stability, and stall behavior tuned from the real DR400 Pilot’s Operating Handbook.
    • Correct stall speeds: 46 kt (flaps down), 51 kt (clean).
    • Proper V-speeds arcs on the ASI: green (51–140 kt), white (46–92 kt), yellow (140–166 kt), red line (166 kt).

    Engines & Performance

    • Lycoming O-360 power curve rebuilt from real dyno charts.
    • Correct RPM, fuel flow, climb rates, and cruise speeds.
    • Takeoff & climb performance aligned with POH charts → perfect for real training.

    Cockpit & Systems

    • Airspeed indicator arcs corrected with POH data.
    • Fuel, oil, and electrical parameters matched to real tolerances.
    • More accurate control feel (trim, rudder, ailerons) for flight school practice.

    Target Performance

→ Glide ratios, climb rates, endurance, and range calculated directly from the real aircraft manual.
→ Perfect to simulate real-world training exercises.

✅ Built on REALSIM, evidence-based modding: no guesswork, only real-world data

✅ Every number matches the real POH

✅ Ideal for IVAO/VATSIM or other student pilots and flight schools using MSFS as a training supplement

Hello, when using this (added to Community folder) in MSFS 2024, it shows as deactivated in the in-game library. When I click on More Info in order to try and activate it, it says " this item is not usable in Career or Challenge League", with no other available option.
    Any idea?

I'm a real life PPL student, but I fly the DR400 CDI 135 (EcoFlyer) which is a diesel variant (4 seater). Too bad there is no plane like that available in the inventory. There is a 155 version (glass cockpit ) in X-Plane by Aerobask. But we fly the 'steam gauge' version. I'll try this mod in MSFS2020. Thanks.

This is a good mod but I wish you add a GPS (eg Garmin Aera tablet - available in another DR400 mod but that's only available for MS2020). This is a very limited aircraft with no GPS for present day navigation.

Hi! Thanks for your feedback! We have a good news for you: the GPS will be in our next version, with a tablet. And an autopilot as well (both).

The next version will be available in October.

    any news on the GPS?

Can you provide a link to the version that you said would be released in October, with the GPS and autopilot?

    Thank you for the mod.

    Some suggestions for the checklists:
    * Ensure that the anti collision light is on before starting the engine.
    * Monitor oil pressure after engine start up, should rise to the green band within ~30s after startup.
    * Reduce to about 1200 rpm after engine start
    * Could test the fuel pump before engine start (there is a fuel pressure indicator; so it can be checked); but the pump should indeed be off before engine start.
    * In a real DR400 you typically prime the engine by pumping the throttle before engine start, this obviously isn't modeled in MSFS2024. I feel the checklist would be truer to life with such an entry though.
    * During taxi you typically verify that flight instruments are working: compass decreasing, DG decreasing, needle to left/ball to the right on the turn/bank indicator.
    * During engine run up, you typically also check vacuum pressure (drives the AI and DG) and compass deviation when you throttle back to idle.
    * Initial climb speed is 55 kts, while I don't fly the Cadet; this seems very low. I'd expect at least 60kts.
    * The neutral trim feels way off, a trim setting of ~9 feels like neutral. This didn't change from the default plane though.
    * There are no left-turning tendencies during takeoff roll. This didn't change from the default plane though..

Hi and thanks for your feedback! Yeah We only use real documentation for the checklists, for this mod we compared on average 12 POH so there may be things missing or figures not quite similar depending on the country and especially depending on the flying club. But we are planning an update soon so we will take your comment into account!

I do not know the real aircraft, but it feels realistic esapeally with the power managment.
    Thanks for all the work!!

Thanks a lot for your feedback!!! It's always cool to see people happy with a mod, It boosts us to update even more often! Thanks again for your coment!

I Iove the checklists! Thanks Romandy! You forgot to mention that you also added camera angles according to the items in the checklist 😉

Oh thanks a lot Tizma! We really appreciate the feedback! Yes it's true, there are camera to show where to click when you perform the chelists's items, thank you we forgot to tell it! But in general, it's because it's "normal" to have custom views with the MSFS checklists ;) Thanks again!

Thank you, but I might do something wrong. I don't see the plane on the menu. still have the standard asobo on the list ? it is normal ? Others, i have a new plane or improvement written after the name. there is no changes at all. It is ok ?

Hi! In fact it's fully normal: the mod is not here to creat a new aircraft, but to modify the existing one. So if you put the fille in "community" folder, the mod is active. But you will not see anything new when you will choose a plane 😉 In fact it's something good to don't see any modifications when you are on the aircrafts list -> The mid is not supposed changes anything on this MSFS menu.

Ok, thank you. I was not sure. First mod I install that don't say "hey Im here" 😅. I will try it wisely.

Absolutely no problem! You are right it's always better to ask! And I'm here for it ;) Enjoy

✈️ DR400 Realism Mod – Major Update (Realistic Checklists) This update comes directly from the community’s strong demand: many pilots asked for more advanced checklists, especially for training purposes. 👉 We listened — and spent a lot of time rebuilding the checklists from scratch, comparing multiple real-world sources (official POHs, flying club procedures, instructor checklists). The result is a fully detailed, realistic checklist set that goes far beyond the simplified default version. 🔹 What’s new All missing steps added (documents, walkaround, fuel drains, oil check, doors/windows, etc.). Correct real-world speeds (rotation 100 km/h, initial climb 130 km/h, cruise, approach, final). Proper fuel pump logic (ON only for takeoff and landing). Full magneto and carb heat checks during run-up. Accurate shutdown and securing procedures. These checklists are now true-to-life and highly valuable for training in both MSFS 2020 and MSFS 2024. 📥 Installation Installation is simple and clean: Download the full ZIP package. Extract the entire folder into your Community directory. When Windows asks if you want to replace the existing version → click Yes. 👉 Installing the full package ensures you always have the complete and up-to-date Mod in your Community folder — no leftover files, no duplicates. 💬 Final words We’ve worked hard on this update because you, the community, asked for it. Thank you for pushing us to make the DR400 checklists as realistic and training-friendly as possible!
