Asobo Cessna Citation Longitude Realism Mod - Image 1

    Description

This is a modification to the MSFS 2020 default Asobo Cessna Citation Longitude aircraft and is primarily aimed at improving the aircraft flight model to make its overall performance more closely match the actual aircraft, providing a much closer experience to flying the real aircraft.  Multiple changes have been made to the aircraft Flight Model and Weight and Balance parameters, which are detailed in the Change Log file included in the download.

This mod is easily installed by simply unzipping the download file and copying the mge-asobo-aircraft-longitude folder to the MSFS Community folder.  It will then replace the existing default Cessna Citation Longitude aircraft in the MSFS aircraft selection screen, and will also continue to utilize all of the existing available Liveries.  To uninstall the mod and return to using the MSFS default aircraft, simply remove it from the Community folder.

Hello, does this work with the Working Title improvement for Longitude?

This mod does not affect any avionics functionality, so if the Working Title improvements are only for avionics, it should not conflict with them... But I have not tested this.

is it just me or the landing distance is ridiculously short? i managed to only use 1500ft of a runway, with a landing force of around 1.2 g's so it's not a hard landing

just did another flight, landed in under 600ft. with no wind, no reverse thrust, 1.2 g's and 30% fuel. nothing realistic about this mod. also floats at 110kts.

Hi. Just wondering if your mod works FS20204, and if so, with the recent SU4 updates to the Longitude? Is your mod still recommended after that update?

Thanks for all the excellent tips too, btw!

Thanks, I'm glad that you find my TIP OF THE DAY tips helpful.
No... This mod is only for MSFS 2020. But I have not tested it to see if it might also work with FS2024, since I have not yet purchased FS2024.

TIP OF THE DAY: After performing a short-field takeoff using FLAPS 2, you can safely retract the Flaps directly to UP without stopping at FLAPS 1.

TIP OF THE DAY: Because this aircraft will automatically pitch UP when the Throttle is decreased, you do not need to FLARE before touchdown. Just reduce the Throttle to IDLE and wait for it to slowly settle down onto the runway as the speed decreases.

TIP OF THE DAY: Because of the location and orientation of the engines, this aircraft will pitch UP when the thrust is decreased, and pitch DOWN when thrust is increased. So, for a smoother takeoff always engage the AP so it can control the Pitch Trim before reducing the Throttle power setting.

TIP OF THE DAY: To smoothly extend the Flaps from one setting to the next with the AP engaged, always reduce your speed first until you establish a pitch angle of +2.5°. If you are using the AT, switch it to MAN so you can manually reset the speed before extending each notch of flaps.

TIP OF THE DAY: To smoothly capture the GS when descending on Final Approach in VNAV PATH mode, set the Target ALT to 1,000 ft. AGL, which will be below the FAF G/S Intercept altitude. Then, wait to engage APPR mode until you reach the FAF waypoint (which should also be designated as BOD on the Map). The magenta Glidepath Chevron and the white Glideslope Diamond should overlap completely at this point.

Setting the Target ALT to 1,000 ft. AGL will also cause the autopilot to automatically level off at this Final Approach decision altitude so you can easily perform a Go-Around if you fail to intercept the GS for any reason.

Good morning, do you have any tips on how best to land with the autothrottle switched on? It automatically goes into retard at 50 ft. My problem is that when I go into reverse thrust after touchdown, it keeps calling for autothrottle. Does the autothrottle switch off completely at some point, or do I have to deactivate it manually so that I don't get the warning?

The Autothrottle is supposed to automatically retard at 50 ft. and disengage after touchdown, but this does not appear to be happening. Unfortunately, this is a bug that Asobo will have to fix... until then you will have to manually disengage it when you hear the "autothrottle" alert.

I usually disengage the AT above 500 ft. and disengage the AP above 200 ft., and then manually retard the Throttle as I cross the threshold. But, just do what works best for you.

TIP OF THE DAY: This aircraft is twice the weight of the CJ4 and requires much higher speeds and AoA pitch angles during Approach and Landing. The Target speed for Approach with Flaps 1 and Flaps 2 is the default FMS (Magenta) speed. The Final Approach Target speed with Flaps FULL is Vapp, unlike the CJ4 which uses Vref for the Final Approach Target speed. The Vapp speed must be manually set before extending Flaps FULL.

Hi MGouge425, nice mod you have made here :)
Question: do you have a specific Simbrief profile for this?

Thanks... No, I do not have a new SimBrief profile. Just use the one for the default aircraft.

Installed this and now the Longitude has the take-off performance of a Cessna 172.

Make sure you follow the Installation instructions described above... Also, check for a conflict with some other mod.

TIP OF THE DAY: I recommend using the SCATTERED CLOUDS preset weather for the smoothest ride and most realistic views. This setting provides a gentle 5 kt wind from 270°, and the cloud layers will suppress most of the ground thermal activity and low-level turbulence. To correct for the MSFS 2020 -11° wind error bug, always enter the wind into the FMS as 259/5.

TIP OF THE DAY: Here is a simple flight plan that will follow the coastline from KLAX to KSFO...

    KLAX (25R-SUMMR2.SUMMR) > GOLET-V27-EUGEN > KSFO (EDDYY.ILS 28L)

TIP OF THE DAY: The Vref and Vapp speeds, and the green AoA Donut can sometimes be confusing, even to me, so here is a full explanation of these terms...

Vapp = Vref + 12 kts. on this aircraft. This is the TARGET speed to maintain while descending on Final Approach.

Vref for this aircraft only refers to landing configuration (Flaps FULL). This is the MIN speed while descending on Final Approach, and the TARGET speed for crossing the Threshold.

The green AoA DONUT = .66 AoA on this aircraft and should equal Vref for the current configuration and weight. It is the MAX AoA while descending on Final Approach, and the TARGET AoA for crossing the Threshold.

    Version History

Version 1.5.2 ⦁ The Engine Thrust Angle has been increased further to +2.5° to more closely match the actual aircraft and 3-D model. This improves the pitch and trim during Takeoff, Cruise and Approach, in addition to the pitch response to power changes. This aircraft will pitch up when thrust is decreased, and pitch down when thrust is increased. ⦁ The Landing Gear Suspension has been retweaked to reduce swaying when steering with the rudder on the runway. ⦁ The Flaps Lift, Drag and Pitch parameters have been retweaked to improve the takeoff, cruise and approach pitch and performance.
