    Pop Out Panels in MSFS

    MSFS Pop Out Panel Manager is an application for MSFS 2024 which helps pop out, save and position pop out panels to be used by utilities such as Sim Innovations Air Manager or to place pop out panels onto your screen or another monitor at predetermined locations automatically. In MSFS, by holding RIGHT ALT + LEFT CLICKING some instrumentation panels, these panels will pop out as floating windows that can be moved to a different screen location or different monitor. But this needs to be done every time you start a new flight.

    In addition, a new floating panel feature which allows you to show and hide pop out panel with customizable keyboard binding has also been added.

    Touch Enabled Panel

    Currently, MSFS lacks touch capability for pop out panels which are being used on touch screen or on tablet. If you're using pop out panel such as GTN750, KingAir PFD/MFD, or other in game touch screen capable panel (panels that can be operated with a mouse), or built-in panels such as ATC, checklist, you can add touch capability to these panels.

    Application Features

    • Display resolution independent. Supports 1080p/1440p/4k display and ultrawide displays.
    • Support multiple user defined aircraft profiles to save panel locations to be recalled later.
    • Intuitive user interface to defined location of panels to be popped out.
    • Added automatic game refocus capability when using pop out. (MSFS bug where flight control is disabled when mouse is on the pop out)
    • Enable touch support for pop outs on touch capable display (direct connected monitor or on tablet using tool such as SpaceDesk).
    • Auto Pop Out feature. The application will detect active aircraft and activate the corresponding profile when starting a new flight session.
    • Fine-grain control in positioning of panels down to pixel level.
    • Panels can be configured to appear always on top, with title bar hidden, or stretch to full screen mode.
    • Auto disable Track IR when pop out starts.
    • Auto activate Active Pause when pop out starts.
    • User-friendly features such as application always on top, auto start, minimized to tray with keyboard shortcuts.
    • Auto update feature. Application can auto-update itself when new version becomes available.
    • A virtual NumPad feature for touch panel screen.
    • Floating panel option to show/hide pop out panel as needed.

    How to Install 

    Just unzip the package to a folder of your choice on your computer and run "MSFS Pop Out Panel Manager 2024.exe". This application uses x64 version of SimConnect and you maybe require to install Microsoft VC++ 2015-2022 redistributable x64 on your computer.

    Wow—this setup turned out fantastic. I had an old Galaxy Tab A8 sitting around unused, and since I fly the CRJ often, I wanted a dedicated FMC. After installing SpaceDesk on both my PC and the tablet, Pop Out Panel Manager made the entire process effortless. Paired with my Elgato Stream Deck+, the tablet FMC keeps me focused on flying instead of hunting around the cockpit during busy phases. The CRJ can get hectic fast, and this solution genuinely streamlines the workflow. Thank you for creating and sharing something so helpful.

    Currently, DLSS 5 mod is not compatible with MSFS pop outs. POPM just manages built-in pop out function.

    Hi, is there no way to show the overhead panel? every time i try it, it fails. all other screens do work. but the overhead panel is THE ONE which would make the most sense, isnt it?

    Please make sure you're in a flight session for the button to be activated. Also, POPM needs to be connected to MSFS. A green connected icon at the upper left corner of the app shows the current connection status of POPM to MSFS.

    POPM 2024 will only quit if it cannot detect MSFS 2024 is running. Please make sure you're using respective version of POPM between MSFS 2024 and 2020. Another place to look is Windows Event Viewer to see if there are anything causing POPM to quit/crash.

    Chase plane has a camera group "Popout Manager" which are for views only used with Popout Manager and Air Manager. However if a view is created under cockpit views using this group it does not show up in Popout Panel Manager in the chase plane camera dropdown list when you select your popout screens

    POPM only queries default camera group to get the instrument view for pop up. It does not look for custom camera groups since they're different from user to user and POPM does not know they exist. The default camera group camera views created by ChasePlane should be enough since they should contain all the instruments that can be popped out. POPM is keying off these views from ChasePlane camera API.

    The auto pop out panel has a max 10 second delay. With the G1000 panels that don't pop out unless they are turned on , can you increase the max delay time to 30

    You can override POPM configuration manually. Go the preferences => general settings => folder path to store POPM configuration and profiles. Open POPM configuration file "appsettingdata.json" in the folder. Make a copy of the file in case the following update mess up the file. In the file, update JSON data, "ReadyToFlyDelay": 10 and set this to 30. Save the file. The updated value should apply even though POPM UI does not show it. As long as you do not use POPM UI to update this value back to 10 seconds or less, the updated value should stick. You can still make other POPM preference changes in the mean time.
