MSFS Pop Out Panel Manager - Image 1

    Description

    ** Development roadmap information

I've personally officially migrate fully over to MSFS 2024 for my daily flying and no longer have MSFS 2020 installed on my PC for continuing development and bug fix for this version of POPM. If you encount major showstopping bug, please log it in my github repo for POPM (see Reporint Issue/Open Issue section below for my github link) and I'll try to fix it in code directly without the help of actually MSFS 2020 on my PC. Thank you for your understanding.

    ** Information for MSFS 2024 **

POPM for MSFS 2024 has been released here at flightsim.to. The version in this download is only compatible with MSFS 2020.

    Pop Out Panels in MSFS

MSFS Pop Out Panel Manager is an application for MSFS 2020 which helps pop out, save and position pop out panels to be used by utilities such as Sim Innovations Air Manager or to place pop out panels onto your screen or another monitor at predetermined locations automatically. In MSFS, by holding RIGHT ALT + LEFT CLICKING some instrumentation panels, these panels will pop out as floating windows that can be moved to a different screen location or different monitor. But this needs to be done every time you start a new flight. In MSFS since SU12, there is the capability to remember size and position of pop outs but this feature is sometimes unreliable and you still need to manually pop these panels out. MSFS Pop Out Panel Manager solves this problem by enabling automatic pop out of panels when flight starts and can be configured per aircraft.

    How to Pop Out

Starting with version 4.1, a new method for selecting pop up panel has been added for MSFS Pop Out Panel Manager. This method uses pre-defined fixed camera view (Pilot, Copilot, instrumentations) for each aircraft and it is much more accurate way to select panel source compare to previous method of using custom camera angle. All aircraft profile created with previous version of MSFS Pop Out Panel Manager are still 100% compatible with latest version of the application. You are welcome to try out this new panel selection method and update your existing aircraft profiles at your leisure.

In addition, a new floating panel feature which allows you to show and hide pop out panel with customizable keyboard binding has also been added.

    Touch Enabled Panel

Currently, MSFS lacks touch capability for pop out panels which are being used on touch screen or on tablet. If you're using pop out panel such as GTN750, KingAir PFD/MFD, or other in game touch screen capable panel (panels that can be operated with a mouse), or built-in panels such as ATC, checklist, you can add touch capability to these panels.

    Application Features

    • Display resolution independent. Supports 1080p/1440p/4k display and ultrawide displays.
    • Support multiple user defined aircraft profiles to save panel locations to be recalled later.
    • Intuitive user interface to defined location of panels to be popped out.
    • Added automatic game refocus capability when using pop out. (MSFS bug where flight control is disabled when mouse is on the pop out)
    • Enable touch support for pop outs on touch capable display (direct connected monitor or on tablet using tool such as SpaceDesk).
    • Auto Pop Out feature. The application will detect active aircraft and activate the corresponding profile when starting a new flight session.
    • Cold Start feature. Instrumentation panels can be popped out even when they're not powered on (for G1000 / G1000 NXi planes only).
    • Fine-grain control in positioning of panels down to pixel level.
    • Panels can be configured to appear always on top, with title bar hidden, or stretch to full screen mode.
    • Auto disable Track IR when pop out starts.
    • Auto activate Active Pause when pop out starts.
    • User-friendly features such as application always on top, auto start, minimized to tray with keyboard shortcuts.
    • Auto update feature. Application can auto-update itself when new version becomes available.
    • A simple HUD Bar with stop watch and sim rate functions for generic aircraft or PMDG 737 aircraft.
    • A virtual NumPad feature for touch panel screen.
    • Floating panel option to show/hide pop out panel as needed.

    How to Install

Just unzip the package to a folder of your choice on your computer and run "MSFSPopoutPanelManager.exe". This application uses x64 version of SimConnect and you maybe require to install VC++ redistributable 2015-2022 x64  Microsoft VC++ 2015-2022 redistributable x64 on your computer.

Hey man. Thanks so much for your hard work on this. It's truly appreciated. Just a quick question. With this mod, is it possible to configure and save the popout positions for a specific camera, and not others? For example, I would like my GPS popouts to only save on Instrument View 1, and have them not visible on any other cockpit view, Is that possible?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to hide panel depending on camera view.

When trying to pop out panels from my 7373NG DPMG , for some reason the Standby Attitude Indicator and the ADF Bearing Indicator keep failing to pop out .
Any suggestions would be great !

Unfortunately, these 2 panels cannot be popped out either manually or by POPM. A design decision by PMDG.

Simconnect was working fine with other software/hardware. It's working anyway and I think this version is great compared to a couple of years ago.

With ref my below problem, your guide says to run popout manager than load msfs. I've found that is the cause of the problems below, If I load in that order then I do not get a a + 'that I can click on. Loading msfs2020 until I'm in the aircraft thren loading popout works although I've yet to finish setting it up yet.

I have used a much older version of this, roughly 2 to 3 years ago. With this new version on msfs2020 flying the FBW A320, I can start a profile, name it but cannot add any displays, where you describe to click on the + to add 3 screens, the + symbol is greyed out. Have tried a few time and same symptoms each time. I've had a problem where one day popouts natively working then on next day, they popouts are lost, monitors positions, resolution etc had not been changed. Any ideas why the + would be greyed out? This is in the error log: 2026-05-13 01:58:17,511 - SimConnector: SimConnect receive message exception - Access is denied.
    Cheers

It looks like SimConnect is blocked on your machine. SimConnect is used by most 3rd party software to communicate with MSFS. Maybe your antivirus setting is blocking it. Without SimConnect, POPM cannot operate correctly and this is why most items are grayed out in POPM.

Will this work in VR for window position of 3rd party toolbar apps like the GSX window, FS2crew window or SayIntentions.ai window? I'm needing something to move my windows to assigned location each time I activate VR and the flight sim resets all my toolbar windows to center of screen.

    Thanks

    Hi,

I’m having some trouble getting the plugin to work on my setup. I have tested it with the Asobo A320neo, Cessna 172 (G1000), CJ4, and Cessna Grand Caravan.

In every case, I can complete the configuration process, but when I try to trigger the panels, I get an "FAILED" message and the pop-out windows do not appear.

Could you let me know what information or logs you need to help me troubleshoot this?

Thanks for your help and for this great tool!

    my setup:
    first_display : 2560x1080
    second_display : 1920x1080
msfs_2020_version : 1.39.12 (on pc with microsoft store edition) (premuim_deluxe_anniversary_edition)

Please make sure you've "New UI Window Mode" in MSFS keyboard binding set to "Right-Alt" key.

That was indeed the issue. I checked my keyboard bindings, and "New UI Window Mode" was unassigned. Once I bound it to the Right-Alt key, everything started working perfectly!

Thank you so much for your quick help and for keeping this awesome tool updated!

Great program! Only problem I've had, on several pop-outs I will press Start Pop-Out and when it finishes the last pop-out will fill my entire screen and I can't close that or use the mouse for anything. I have to select Task Manager and close the program. Any ideas?

You can type in the width and height for the last pop out in POPM to resize it. The initial size of the pop outs are determined by the aircraft creator and you can use POPM to overcome this "bug" in the game.
