Welome to another of my scenery addons. This time I have created an enhancement addon for someone else's work. Normally I do airports from scratch, but SBWorks's Wanaka Airport is very well made and contains wonderful custom 3D model buildings. Unfortunately the author does not appear to be actively updating this one which hasn't been touched for 2 years.

Therefore I decided to make some fixes and additions to their scenery. The original airport layout and buildings remain untouched but I have added new ground textures, hand placed objects, trees and vegetation and fixed a couple of things along the way.

I have read that the author is working on a new Wanaka with NZA Simulations, I am sure we eagerly await that but there has been no news for almost 4 months. So in the meantime, and in case it never happens, enjoy this addition to the original.

Features unclude:

• Fixed the annoying double windsock in the weather station next to the fueling area on the apron.
• Added more of the airport to the scenery, which was missing.
• Added over 200 hand placed objects.
• Added much needed lighting in and around the airport.
• Added the gravel pit site, prior it was just a mess of MSFS artifacts and looked unfinished and ugly.
• Populated the pit area with objects and gave it some life.
• Spruced up the main carparks and made them more true to life.
• Added new custom ground textures.
• Removed a multitude of MSFS shadows and blotches from all over the airport.
• Added hand placed trees and vegetation.
• Filled the weather station with the proper equipment.
• Added the main road and street lights.
• Added drainage and much, much more.

• Fixes all remaining terrain issues caused by adding the gravel pit and runway lighting. This airport has proven challenging with small undulations all over the place that were hard to spot post release.
• Merged all textures seamlessly with the original scenery after fixing the terrain issues.
• Added Heli-starts for chopper pilots. See screenshots as to how to select them.

V 1.4  ( 23 Jul 2024 )

• This enhancement now contains a workaround for the MSFS Helipad bug that prevents cold and dark starts. I have placed a small parking spot under each of them numbered 100, 101 etc. These are not connected to the taxi paths and can be chosen as an alterative to their matching Helipad so as to achieve a cold and dark spawn.
• Mowed the MSFS grass textures down to 1/3rd of their stock length. Makes a massive difference especially for taxiing and Helipads.

Instructions

1. Unzip and drop into your Community folder. You must have the original mod from SBWorks installed as well.

2. Load the SBSWorks Wanaka airport as normal. See screenshots.
