    Description

    ENHV - Honningsvåg airport, Valan.

    Honningsvåg Airport (ENHV) is a regional airport serving Honningsvåg in Nordkapp, Norway. The airport is located at Valan, on the south side of Skipsfjorden, 4 kilometers north of the town, and 31 km from the famous tourist attraction North Cape. Flights are operated by Widerøe to Tromsø with connecting flights to Oslo. The airline also fly to other communities within Finnmark, who serve the airport with Dash 8-100/200 aircraft. 

    Package content:

    • Custom made buildings and objects (over 40 different models).
    • Custom made elevation mesh for the airport area with 1m resolution. 
    • Custom aerial imagery for the airport area.

    The airport is made with runway/taxiway lights, leading lights (RWY 26), ground markings etc. as true to life as current information makes possible. If you discover errors, things that can be improved or things that is missing, please notify me so I can fix it for later versions. 

    Version 1.2:

    • Fixed a couple of "bumps" in the runway caused by several MESH-rectangles.
    • Reduced size of rwy/taxiway signs.
    • Reduced size of localizer antennas.
    • Fixed rwy and taxiway markings to real life. Runway markings are now "hatched" like in real life and not solid rectangles.
    • Other minor adjustments.

    Version 1.1:

    • Fixed some missing textures.
    • Fixed the trees in the area to a more representative style.

    Known issues and possible future improvements:

    • Issue: Some times you might experience that runway/taxi lights floats high over the surface or is missing (below the terrain). This can occur if you are arriving from another airport. I am told that this is a simulator problem and is related to how the sim updates the terrain. To reduce this problem, it might help to increase terrain level of detail and off screen terrain pre-caching.
    • Improvement: Make some adjustments to runway/approach lighting in order to get it 100%.

    Installation:

    Make sure to delete earlier versions if installed. Then, just unpack .zip file and drag scenery folder into the community folder.

    I have v1.2 but it seems that the layout.json and manifest.json are missing. Is it only for me?

    This bug that Simone is talking about, is it something that can be fixed (or has been fixed already?), or is it in the sim itself? =P

    Hi! It is in the sim itself. But you can try to increase terrain level of detail and off screen terrain pre-caching. And empty the rolling cache. That might help.

    This looks really great, thank you. Only complaint is with WU15 the runway and taxi lights are floating about 2m above ground level. Also, how are you supposed to land at RWY 8! What a sketchy final approach... Thanks for sharing this.

    Hi! The floating lights is related to a bug in the simulator and not the scenery. It is something that Asobo hasn't managed to fix. If you are flying to ENHV from another airport, you can get this problem when the terrain is loaded. If you start at ENHV, I guess you don't have the same problem? Until it is fixed by Asobo, you can try to increase the terrain LOD and pre cache loading.

    Hi! I am from Honningsvåg and know this airport very well. I have made an X-Plane version of this earlier. I have taken a short look and have some initial comments:
    1. There is a "bump" in the runway to the left of taxiway B.
    2. Slope is not 100% correct ( a bit "bumpy", but I cvan live with that)
    3. The LLZ antennas, runway signs and taxi lights are to large

    But overall an excellent scenery!! great work!

    Hi! Thank you for the comments and rating. When it comes to the bump in the runway, I have not managed to remove it. I am not sure if its a bug in SDK, but I will look more into it. The same goes for the bumpy runway. Other developers have reported the same problem with their airports and suspect a priority issue related to mesh vs runway slope. Rwy signs, antennas and rwy/taxi ligts are default, but I will try to change size in next version. Signs and antennas should not be a problem. When it comes to the lights, I am not sure and need to do some research. BTW, do you have pictures og the buildings in the hill above the airport?
