    Zugspitze - Rescue mission (DE,EN) - Image 1

    Description

My 3rd MSFS construction*1. I hope you like it and I know there's still room for improvement ;-)
This time it's time for a rescue misson on Germany highest Mountain, the Zugspitze - Are you ready?
You fly the: Zlin Aviation Savage Cub

Available in two languages:  DE, EN

    Rescue mission story:
For days you have been stucked in this small village in Austria because of the bad weather conditions, on your way to Italy. You wanted to take part in an air show there as a stunt pilot. The situation has deteriorated dramatically in the last few days. The blizzard claims its first victims when a dramatic emergency call is received from the German Zugspitz mountain station. People have been stucked there for days, the means of transport have failed. The supplies are running out and some people were critically injured in an avalanche. The few rescue planes that exist have been in full use for days ... until they are approaching you. You are the only pilot far and wide who might do it. A rescue flight to the Zugspitze. Are you ready for blizzards, twilight and a lousy visbility? - Then go for it.

Goodies: Real stopover on the Schneeferner glacier, made possible by an rudimentary airfield construction ;-)
Stand alone airport: You can download the f
ictitious airport on top of the mountain only to use it for other flight szenarios. Please be aware that this is not the bushtrip and avoid having them both together at the same time in your community folder!
    Tip:
As long as the package is in your community folder, you can open your world map and search for (the
imaginary) ED1Z - The airport on Top of the galcier will appear and you can fly there with your own plane or settings. Have fun.

    Known boundaries and issues:
    AUDIO (TEXT TO SPEECH):
    - Audio files (speech) are available but in English only since the internal interpreter (text to speech) serves only english pronunciation. All other languages sound more crappy then well.
    STARTING POINT:
    - At the beginning, the plane drives back a few meters on the runway as if by magic ?!  - I don't know why - but it has no other effect.
    GLACIER
    :
    - At the end of the first leg and after your successful landing and speech, it takes some seconds until the stopover is triggered as a bushmission break. Please wait a little bit (this is coming from the software not me).
    - Unfortunately, I had no influence on the respwan point (after finishing first leg) on the virtual airport on top the glacier. So it might be a little bit tricky overthere but - Hey, you are a daredevil, you'll manage it.
    - After finishing your first leg and stopover on the glacier, there might be a timewarp back by one hour after respawn - To be honest, I didn't program that and I don't know how to get rid of it if it happens.

Third party recommendations: (Thanks to the developers)
VFR - Landmarks: https://flightsim.to/file/2605/we-love-vfr-region-1 (if you like some VFR landmarks, then you'll see some)
Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Photogrammetry: https://flightsim.to/file/3898/garmisch-partenkirchen-germany-photogrammetry (up to you, since you might not see it beneath)

    How to install:
Download the file package and extract. After extration copy the complete folder into your community folder.
If you are not aware about where's your community folder located, please follow these instructions: https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/content.php?21235-Finding-The-MSFS-2020-Community-Folder

Wie geil ist das denn? Eine wirklich neue Erfahrung, die ich allerdings ohne LNM auf Anhieb nicht hinbekommen hätte. Vielen Dank. Mach bitte weiter so.

Thanks, but you are "following well" and doing as well a good job - Or shell I say you are hooked?
I mean - to be honest - it' s quite easy, doing some clicks in LNM and construct a bushtrip out of it. The tools are available (LNM, bushtripinjector, bushmissiongen) but it's even more difficult to give more input to the people or generating a story (i.e. Zugspitze) out of it.
I mean finally it's nice to say - "Ok heading west for 30nm, then heading south until you reach the mountain....." - Ok this might be the origin of a bushtrip but my aim is to offer the user a little bit more to have it more as a scenic trip with some information about the area they use to fly or even offering some things which are in reality not possible. And maybe one day they might visit or fly there for real because of the nice area.
Additionally, based on the available (bing) material, some areas are much more nicer in reality than displayed in bing (you know it, when you know these areas)
At the moment I'm working already on a new bushtrip ("still secret") and here I have the issue that in reality the surround to fly and watch is normally so nice but in bing its rather...well....not necessary to say..... so I have to build more a story around to give users a benefit because of the sometime more lousy surrounding (i.e. crappy castles, fortresses, scenic small towns).
    Cheers, Dirk

Very much appreciate the effort put into this mission.

It is a very difficult mission as it may be impossible to fly in a snow storm.

From taking off, I had to concentrate on keeping the plane level while climbing as I could not maneuver blind in a snow storm and thus, I wanted to climb above the storm. Once there, it was quite easy by looking around to spot the highest mountain and then just aim for it.

Appreciate the landing lights on the glacier as without it would have been difficult to land on such a tight glacier.

Coming down from Zugspitze, concentrating on keeping the plane level and heading heading east northeast, I seemed to wind up at Walchensee and had to find my way around the mountain to Grosweil and carefully find the Ohlstadt Airfield with the help and cheating of the VFR map and "get me back on course".

Very difficult to fly in a snow storm blinded.

Hi tgmoog, absolutely. You see almost nothing and this situation increases the tension in the game as as you have already noticed. You never know, is this a shadow of a mountain in front of you or just the weather. I played a little bit with the weather to reach this scenery. I placed 2-3 gusty wind shifts which have different directions and strenght, snow and bad visibility - Hey come on, you are daredevil Joe, this playgorund was especially made for you ;-)
Anyway fair enough to say, I always mentioned: Remain exaclty on the given route and climbing is very important.
Yes over the clouds, it's the relaxing atmosphere before you prepare for landing. The lights on the snow from the runway should simulate torches they prepared for your landing.
In reality this is a skiing area and for sure has a good slope. When I did my landing test before I crashed even more a couple of times, so I did this runway placement with the light, to make it a little bit more playable and especially is it necessary for the bushmission software to count this as an stopover. Otherwise it's just landing and start on an glacier, but even that work (ok maybe not everytime ;-)
Going back "down to earth" is almost as spectacular as the climbing. And before you descend into the cloudy soup again, you ask yourself and wonder if you should really do it. It's so nice and comfortable abouve the clouds. So it's still challenging even more, the less you cheat. I tried to plan the route a as safe as possible as long as you follow it and gave some fair hints to each waypoint.
But finally I'm happy, that you made it and hopefully had some fun.
And even if someone cheat like using Littlenav map running in the background or using the outside view of the aircraft you still will have some fun.

    Nice trip, loving it.

When you are using an altitude of 2805 and a pitch of -12.09 your plane is stable on the departure runway. Maybe, only the pitch makes the difference..

Thanks for the comment, I tried to do some improvements on the startup (against rolling back some meters) hope this works.

Amazing. I love flying in such inhospitable conditions. I felt like a mountain should appear in front of me at any moment. Intense experience. Good work.

That's the aim - So I know, it might be somehow far away from reality but...hey it's still a simulator and why not having even some strange things.
And I know you are having as well some similar crazy things in your pipeline ;-)

Ok, solved - Now the links should work. Don't know the reason, because the links are the same like before. Probably something with the coding in the background of this page.
