Description
A collection of low-poly buildings, objects and whatever else ends up included, for use with my MSFS "IPDC" sceneries from ianpsdarkcorner.co.uk. As with the vehicles, we've completely lost count of the number in here now, as we keep adding new ones when they become necessary for airfields.
The models are primarily of Second World War standard drawing, or generic representations of, buildings found on airfields. The odd other thing may sneak in, but they're 99% Second World War structures, many of which can still be found in use today. There are also "scatter" objects for rearming and maintenance areas, gates and barriers, a couple of pillboxes and more, which will hopefully be added to as time goes on.
Five libraries are included:
- ipdc-library-met-equipment - a small number of objects and one simobject which would be used for monitoring and recording weather information
- ipdc-library-signal-squares - UK standard signal squares for ground-to-air communication of information. Now 3d (used to be 2d textures)
- ipdc-stiz-staticac - A small number of static RAF aircraft in generic liveries
- ipdc-ww2-defences - A small collection of defensive structures, pillboxes, gun trenches, etc, for airfield defence. Now including stiz's 75mm airborne pack howitzer, because we didn't know where else to put it.
- ipdc-ww2-dlw - A small collection of objects for WW2 German (Luftwaffe) forward/advance air base and landing ground objects.
- ipdc-ww2-raf-buildings - The main library of structures, buildings and the occasional pit of water. Texture sizes have been decreased, due to size of install.
- ipdc-ww2-scatter - "Stuff". Barrels, boxes, scatter objects, stiz's military tents, piles of coal and suchlike.
PLEASE NOTE:
These libraries have been tested in, and confirmed to be working without major issues in, MSFS2024. They are, however, MSFS2020 libraries.
I haven't included advertising screenshots, because the objects are really only intended for use in our sceneries, These objects are available for use if anyone else wants to do so in their own sceneries, but if you choose to do so, please credit (blame?) me as the author of the library and don't create new libraries from them. It's hard enough to keep track of where I upload them when they get updated and/or added to!
IPDC Scenery Objects Library

Unfortunately no chap with two MG34s to spin around in a gun pit, because I need to completely rebuild the figure's skeleton and animate it... There are Flakvierlings both with and without their own defensive structures, though.

I'll just upload the old library as a legacy pack. Hopefully today, but no promises.

Now, ChicoMick's Bassingbourn uses I assume this new version. Is it possible to have both versions installed? I would like to have both sceneries installed at the same time without having to swap library versions.

Installing the two side by side will work, but could, conceivably, cause clashes depending on which version loads first so you might get mismatched building textures. If we're missing something, it would be useful to know what, though. It's almost certainly in there, but probably has a changed GUID.

Each building is usually on a single texture sheet (most are multiple buildings to a single texture sheet) meaning that there are far fewer draw calls in the sim when the models are used. If you use multiple texture sheets per model as you suggest, which you'd normally do with a simobject rather than a scenery library object anyway, you would very quickly multiply the number of draw calls required and significantly impact frame rate and performance of scenery.
