Asobo NXCub Realism Mod - Image 1

    Description

This is a modification to the MSFS 2020 default  Asobo CubCrafters NXCub aircraft.  This mod is primarily aimed at improving the flight model and realism of this aircraft, providing a more realistic flying experience that is much closer to the actual aircraft.  Multiple changes have been made to the engine and flight model parameters, and the aircraft weight and balance, which are all detailed in the Change Log file included under the Documentation folder.  This mod does not add any new functionality to the aircraft.

The NXCub is an amazing high performance STOL aircraft that is based on the original Piper Super Cub airframe, and is designed primarily for bush flying from extremely short grass or dirt runways.  The NXCub is the same as the XCUb tail dragger with a strong spring steel main gear and large tundra tires, but with a nosewheel and a more powerful 215 HP engine which provides incredible takeoff and climb performance and much higher cruise speeds.  It is also much easier to fly than the tail dragger XCub, especially during takeoff and landing, and it can takeoff in as little as 120 ft. and land in only 80 ft.!

This mod is easily installed by simply unzipping the download file and copying the mge-asobo-aircraft-nxcub folder to the MSFS Community folder.  It will then replace the default CubCrafters NXCub aircraft in the MSFS aircraft selection screen, and will continue to use all of the current aircraft liveries.  To uninstall the mod and return to using the MSFS default aircraft, simply remove it from the Community folder.

The Tail Number has been changed to "NX-CUB" to easily distinguish it from the unmodified default version of the aircraft.

TIP OF THE DAY: Here are two excellent short training flight plans for practicing VFR or ILS Approach and Landing procedures that can be easily entered from the World Map...

    KPAO (31) > CEPIN > AXMUL > KSFO (ILS 28R)

    KNUQ (32R) > NIRYI> CEPIN > AXMUL > KSFO (ILS 28R)

Open WORLD MAP and enter the DEPARTURE and ARRIVAL airports and runways, then use the SEARCH box to locate and ADD each waypoint. Then, press [Spacebar] twice to open the LOAD/SAVE screen and save the flight plan as a .PLN file so you can easily reload it and repeat the flight.

Set the target ALT to 1800 ft. and tune NAV 1 to the ILS RWY 28R frequency of 111.7... Go to SkyVector.com and select KSFO to view the ILS RWY 28R approach chart for reference.

After entering or reloading the flight plan, select FLY to start the flight on the runway or select a PARKING RAMP spot to start the flight from cold and dark.

TIP OF THE DAY: This aircraft does not have a trim gauge in the cockpit. The AFM checklist says to set takeoff trim by visually setting the horizontal stabilizer leading edge to the takeoff mark on the empennage. Unfortunately, this mark is missing so just set it to the center of the slot at the leading edge. It will also takeoff fine if you leave the trim at Neutral (0%), which is actually 2.5° DOWN on the stabilizer.

To see the actual trim setting, enable the COCKPIT or EXTERNAL HUD option in MSFS and set the trim to 25% UP for takeoff, which is the default setting when starting a flight on the Runway.

Something seems to be wrong with either the braking force or wheel friction as I CANNOT get this thing to stop on the ground. Land at 40 knots, full flaps, parking brake on, full brakes, slide 200+ feet. It also taxis super fast, having to constantly hold the brakes to keep it from taking off at 30+ knots at full idle.

That sounds like a Controller problem or a Mod conflict... Open OPTIONS / CONTROLS OPTIONS and select your Throttle Controller, then open POWER MANAGEMENT / THROTTLE and verify that your Throttle controller is fully operational. Then, select your Rudder Pedal Controller and open BRAKES to verify that your Brake Pedals are fully operational.

If your controllers are fully operational, temporarily remove all other Mods from COMMUNITY to see if the problem goes away. Then, add them back one at a time to see which one is causing the conflict.

Not a hardware/controller issue. Throttle is going to zero, brakes are working. Took all the other mods out and still had this issue. Ironically the regular xcub realism mod doesn't have this problem but as soon as I put the nxcub one in it just wants to slide all over the place.

Have the same problem. Found a file in the communityfolder (xyz-NXCub G3X Fix) . removed it , and it worked..

TIP OF THE DAY: This aircraft has a very impressive max baggage capacity of up to 230 lbs., in addition to two people and full fuel tanks, which is more than adequate for all of your camping gear, or for your luggage on a long trip. BAGGAGE 1 is the area just behind the rear seat and has a max capacity of 180 lbs. BAGGAGE 2 is the rear baggage compartment, which can hold an additional 50 lbs. max.

TIP OF THE DAY: This is a high performance STOL aircraft with a very high lift wing. As a result, it also has a default nose down horizontal stabilizer incidence angle of -2.5 degrees, and an engine down thrust angle of -2.5 degrees. This results in a normal max speed cruise pitch attitude of -2.5 to -3.0 degrees!

Great as always! I second the request by rookie_one:
MGouge, if you like and find the time, please make a realism mod for the standard and the amphibian float versions of the XCub... thanks in advance! :)
