Cape Town is one of South Africa's three capital cities, serving as the seat of the Parliament of South Africa. It is the legislative capital of the country, the oldest city in the country, and the second largest (after Johannesburg). Colloquially named the Mother City, it is the largest city of the Western Cape province, and is managed by the City of Cape Town metropolitan municipality. The other two capitals are Pretoria, the executive capital, located in Gauteng, where the Presidency is based, and Bloemfontein, the judicial capital in the Free State, where the Supreme Court of Appeal is located.

Cape Town is ranked as a Beta world city by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network. The city is known for its harbour, for its natural setting in the Cape Floristic Region, and for landmarks such as Table Mountain and Cape Point. Cape Town is home to 66% of the Western Cape's population. In 2014, Cape Town was named the best place in the world to visit by both The New York Times and The Daily Telegraph.

Located on the shore of Table Bay, the City Bowl area of Cape Town, is the oldest urban area in the Western Cape, with a significant cultural heritage. It was founded by the Dutch East India Company (VOC) as a supply station for Dutch ships sailing to East Africa, India, and the Far East. Jan van Riebeeck's arrival on 6 April 1652 established the VOC Cape Colony, the first permanent European settlement in South Africa. Cape Town outgrew its original purpose as the first European outpost at the Castle of Good Hope, becoming the economic and cultural hub of the Cape Colony. Until the Witwatersrand Gold Rush and the development of Johannesburg, Cape Town was the largest city in southern Africa.

The city has a long coastline on the Atlantic Ocean, which includes False Bay, and extends to the Hottentots Holland mountains in the East. The Table Mountain National Park is within the city boundaries and there are several other nature reserves and marine protected areas within and adjacent to the city, protecting the diverse terrestrial and marine natural environment.

Hello. Do you have the ORBX addon ?
If it is the case, do you try on MSFS 2020, or MSFS 2024 ?

Have you tried to change the order of the addons ?

    Best regards,

Thanks! Only came across this now, but I am very happy with this addon. The default Asobo generated houses look incredibly ugly and don't look like Cape Town at all. Also I really like how you didnt only do the V&A area, you did multiple areas including the suburbs

I love flying here and now with hang gliders in MSFS. What settings do i need to use in MSFS graphics to get the trees on the top of Signal Hill and the side of Lions Head looking realistic, they are just like abstract trees on my screen and dont fit in with the super detailed and realistic surrounding scenery, or is there a way to edit the scenery file in developer mode

Hello. Unfortunately, you can't. This is the main problem with photogrammetry sceneries from Google (and i already removed a lot of them).

    Hi Thalixte.
Fantastic piece of scenery. Thank you. However, I saw in your comments that there is a DX12 issue with scenery popping/flashing. I noticed this particularly around lions head and signal hill area. Is this something that can be fixed? I don't have this problem with other scenery so I assume it is linked to the google data? Hoping this can be fixed as DX12 is much smoother in VR than DX11. What are your thoughts?

Hello. As for now, i think it can only be fixed on MS/Asobo's side. However, it has to deal with the big number of drawcalls my sceneies produce, so it is not a standard way of working for the engine. But i guess this problem ( which i think is a barrier issue on the DX12 implementation's side), could be fixed in MSFS 2024.

Phenomenal work, the level of detail is incredible!!! It brings new life to Cape Town and plan on flying into FACT more often. Hope to see some of your work where the scenery around the airport get the same level of detail! It Blends well with ORBX! ALso looking forward to the rest of the mountains in this region to be worked on if you decide to. Almost feels like a World Update - Cape Town. Once again love the work!!

Love this addon as it brings life into Table Mountain, however it has a hole in the top of Table Mountain and only the front wall of the top Cable Station. Also the 3d elements from the actual Orbx pay version goes into 2d and there is no action in the harbour. Id give it 5 stars no problem but because the Orbx paid version does not seem to work now its a 4 start rating

That's weird, because wit the ORBX addon, you should see the cable station.

Great work, but had a strange issue with a huge artificial trench (posted image in user gallery). Wonder what the cause could be.

This means that the second part of the scenery is not installed. Read carefully the installation instructions, and this should fix the issue. Best regards

Sorry, my bad, downloaded both files, somehow thought it was just one folder spread in a multiple archive. But it clearly states two files should be installed. Looking forward to another try :)

Really, really great scenery. A taste of MSFS future, procedurally generated mountains based on photogrammetry sometimes in the future :) Could really feel the heights flying over the montain!

Btw: added another screenshot of a small issue.
