Description
Kukës Airport was built as a small domestic airport which commenced operations in 2005. The airport has undergone a major upgrade to become the 2nd international airport in Albania, which the apron could accommodate 2 single-aisle jetliners. The airport is surrounded by hilly terrain so only the north end of the runway could be used for both takeoffs and landings, which means you can only takeoff from Runway 01 and landing on Runway 19 only. Although RNAV approach has been developed, it is not a straight-in approach and the MAPt is far from runway threshold with an offset, which makes it quite challenging and going around from the runway could be potentially dangerous. Night flight is not permitted also.
Even after the major upgrade, the airport is non-towered so calling for ground services are not possible in the sim at this moment. There is a VOR near the south end of the runway but it is not documented so it is likely to be decommissioned.

Very nice! And yeah I think LAKU will be available with Simbrief if you use Navigraph or once the AIRAC cycle gets updated to free users.

You can create a flight plan to Tirana (LATI) first, then change your routing to head for the waypoint "RINAV" along Airway M127, and join the only STAR route for RNAV Runway 19 Approach. Need to spend some time on SkyVector for this, and you need to enter the flight plan by pressing on the MCDU directly, but I like this way, as real as you get.

What a nice place for landing. Airport terminal is almost perfect 😁
I tried to make flightplan with simbrief but LAKU is not in their database even if MSFS include it.
The landscape is very beautiful on the approach from the north for runway 19.
