Description
A library of palm trees in different shapes and sizes consisting of 10 different types so far. I might end up adding some more from time to time if the interest in this library is big enough.
Unlike my other library no weird scaling has to be done with those trees. Well, unless you wanna change the size of it to something else obviously. They come in the correct size by default though.
You will find this library by searching for "palm" in the package search field inside the objects tab of the scenery editor.
Installation is quite straight forward.
Open the downloaded file and place the folder "chrispiaviation_palm_trees_library" inside the community folder.
Read the text document for the original authors.

Are these just replacing the default ones? Or do they replace the bing maps ones? You know...the tall blockey palms all over California.

I believe these are for developers to use in their scenery. This package alone is not a standalone solution and won't do anything to the sim.

I haven't had time to try them in the sdk yet. Just wondering how fps-friendly these trees are? For instance, I know of places that have hundreds of tall palms in a very small area. How much of a hit would that put on fps, either from close up or far away. Related question, how many LODs does each tree have?

Nice job! Just looking at your photos... would any of them be considered a Mexican Palm (the famous tall skinny ones we have in CA and FL)? It's hard to tell from the pictures, just thought you might know off hand. And if not, could you add a Mexican Palm? His 4th picture shows a California Fan Palm FILIFERA (fat) - on the left... and a Mexican Fan Palm ROBUSTA (skinny) on the right

I was thinking about the Washingtonia Robusta. The ones I know are taller and skinnier.

Yep you're correct. Lots of different heights on the washingtonia robustas. (Mexican fan palm). I transplanted palms for over 10 years in Phoenix. You'll find every size from 1' to 60' there. In California, where they were brought from, they are now reaching to 80'-90' !!! Imagine the sway of one of those if you had to climb to the top to trim it... /whew I think the reason the robusta in the mod looks different is the graphic size of the fronds. They are too small and looks like they got a crappy trim job, lol
