About this file

Version 1.0
Check out the Demo Video of the scenery and night lighting in action. Second half shows the late night in full color.

If you like this scenery, take a look at my new release:
CNC3 Brampton - Caledon Airport PRO 1.0 is now available at https://flightsimulation.romandesign.ca

This pack features enhanced scenery for Niagara Falls area (Canada/USA) with animated color-changing night illumination of the falls, to compliment default photogrammetry and autogen areas and default terrain fixes for maximum VFR flight enjoyment.  Default Niagara Falls have photogrammetry but the actual falls are totally broken. They are beyond ugly, they are simply unbearable. Unfortunately the terrain editor is very buggy, so it's not possible to completely fix them. However using a combination of terrain terraforming polygons and imported photogrammetry I made them as good as I can, considering the broken state of the SDK. Please note: don't expect a perfect result, because it's not. But I think this pack looks much better than default, and cyclic random color illumination of the falls at night looks really nice. The power generation dams are out of default photogrammetry area and were completely flat. I added them, and also replaced several fugly opaque bridges with proper transparent models.

FEATURES

  • 3 LOD levels, minimizing FPS impact
  • Photogrammetry is heavily edited and texture color, contrast and brightness is carefully corrected to match surrounding autogen scenery
  • Custom night Niagara Falls lighting, multiple color-changing lights, Seneca Casino and Skylon tower beacons and colored facade illumination

SCENERY

  • Horseshoe Falls - Canadian side
  • Niagara Falls - USA side
  • Rainbow Bridge
  • Whirlpool Rapids Bridge
  • Whirlpool Rapids Railroad Bridge
  • New York Power Authority dam and power station
  • Sir Adam Beck No. 2 Generating Station (Ontario Generation)
  • Lewiston-Queenston Bridge
  • Skylon tower top beacon and red night illumination
  • Seneca Casino (US) facade cycling color night illumination

BUGS

  • Due to buggy MSFS terrain editor the falls are not perfectly align and match water texture and color at the top, if looked at closely. Nothing I can do about it, I spent a lot of time to make it look as good as possible. Some river surface and level changes can flicker and display artifacts which disappear or change as you get closer. That's all on MSFS terrain editor - nothing to do with my scenery. It's just buggy when levels change rapidly.
  • Due to a known bug either in MSFS or Blender2MSFS exporter, custom lights ignore the "day/night cycle" setting. It's enabled on all my custom lights, but light are on at all times. They are not very noticeable during the day, so not a big deal, but there is no way right now to make them turn off at night.
  • Because original bridges are removed, cars now drive on the bottom of the river instead of the new bridge. There is no way right know, as far as I know, to fix that. When SDK matures, there may be a way to let MSFS where to drive. It happens on all aftermarket bridges, as far as I know.

What a huge difference and looks so much better than before which I found disappointing for one of the biggest tourist attractions in the North East of the United States. Thanks

Great work just starting to use blender with msfs tool kit and mapmodeler myself thought i was doing it wrong but it seems to be very buggy in the terrain part of msfs thank you.

Oh, you know nothing John Snow :-) The deeper I got into it, the more buggy and ridiculously unpredictable it got. And when I got to custom modelling... If I knew how much time I would sink into it, I probably wouldn't have started it. O hell, of course I would... But CNC3 Pro is almost ready now...

great work! A few issues I noticed: 1. I think you used the "winter version" of the image for one of the fall. You can see frozen mist/ ice boulders around the fall lol 2. I guess you can't really change how cars float in the air and the artifacts on water surface for now? Otherwise, a lot more immersive! keep up the good work!

I used what Google has, so not much coice there :-) Thre is a way to make cars go over a costom bridge, but I don't think it can work with Google-derived models. But I will test it in the next update.

Brilliant work on the great falls. Found a small glitch, some kind of "broken water" under the Lewiston-Queenston Bridge, not sure if it is part of the package.

The water is screwed up all over the Niagara. I fixed some places, but the water is very glitchy int he sim. So it's not possible to fix it all and get models placed perfectly...

Hi, I left a comment on the Greater Toronto Area Enhancement Pack about the Niagara Falls, so thanks for your work, do you think you can add '' marineland ''? I didn't pay attention but did you add the Niagara Scow :) A huge thank you for your work See you

You're welcome. I didn't even know the scow existed! I looked it up but it doesn't show in Google 3D, it's flat there, so can't add it. Marineland doesn't look very interesting beside the Sky Screamer, but I will add it to my list for future updates.

This should not be connected to my scenery, as I didn't touch the buildings. Try clearing your cache and reloading.

That's very strange. Should not be not my scenery, and nobody else reported this problem. To make sure, you can delete my scenery from Community folder and then try again. See if you have photogrammetry again or not. If not - it's something else. I will check too.

That's the problem since last update and community folder empty The Niagara region is messed up on both sides. I re-loaded the game and it's still messed up. trees are sparse too. I wish i could go back before the japan update.

I didn't notice that, but there now is a huge yellow tape measure/ruler extending in New York from Lake Ontario to the south end of Grand Island, cutting right across Niagara Falls Intl's runway. (I temporarily renamed the entire Community folder to make sure it wasn't due to this mod; it isn't.)
